"Overall I was very satisfied with my painting project. Sal, the painter who worked on my home painted two rooms for me and with the exception of a few minor drops of paint on the carpet (which I removed easily with cuticle scissors) he did an excellent job. A little more care with the drop cloth and he would have gotten a 5 Star rating. All the lines were crisp and clean and straight. He was a pleasure to work with as was Jeremy the owner. I would highly recommend them for your next project."

"Mr. Farmer and his team did a FANTASTIC job! They had my roof on in a day and had the siding completed in under 3 days. Above and Beyond used high quality products for both the roof and the siding. He put on seamless gutters as well as making sure everything was clean when his crew left. He also kept me up to date and informed of his progress with text messages and photos when everything was completed. I have already recommended his company to my family, friends, and co-workers if they ever need work done on their homes. These guys were professional, polite, and completed the job on time and on budget. I needed the exterior of my home completed in 2 weeks and Above and Beyond made that happen well before my new tenants moved in. The house looks better then when I lived in it thanks to the great quality work of Above and Beyond Construction!"

"We hired this service to wash our 2600 sq ft beach home after a hurricane. Brandon was prompt and professional. He worked non-stop for 4 hours. He did the job on short notice in order to accommodate our schedule. Our house and windows are nice and clean, and Brandon even scrubbed our driveway. We would definitely have him back again. And we are going to spread the word among our neighbors at the beach."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes. Freestanding or floating decks are exactly what the name implies—structures with their own support beams. You can build a deck yourself and place it next to a house for the illusion of a connected deck without the hassle. Or you can construct it in a separate part of your yard for a dedicated outdoor entertainment space. For the purpose of removing a freestanding deck, the steps are the same as an attached deck, but you don’t have to cut the deck away from the home.

Yes, you can build a deck over your outdoor HVAC unit, but you need to leave at least 5 feet of vertical clearance above the unit. If you don’t want your deck to be that high off the ground, you could build a floating deck in another part of your yard—again, as long as you leave at least 4 feet of horizontal space between the deck and your AC unit.

If you want to make a deck cleaner from products already in your home, there are various options. The most common is to use a gentle blend of 1 gallon of warm water and 2 tablespoons of ammonia-free dish soap. You can also mix water with distilled vinegar. Sprinkling on some baking soda can help to remove mold and mildew. You can add oxygen bleach (but never damaging chlorine bleach) to the water and ammonia-free dish soap solution for something a bit stronger.

Liquid rubber is great for waterproofing, but it can damage your deck if it’s not applied correctly. First, it can trap moisture in the wood if the deck isn’t completely dry before application.  Second, applying it too thickly can create a heavy, rubbery surface layer that peels and cracks under fluctuating temperatures. For the best results, ensure the wood is completely dry before application, and apply the liquid rubber in thin, even coats. A quick inspection every now and then will help you catch any issues early, keeping your deck protected and looking its best.

When installing deck boards, screws are generally a better option than nails. Screws offer superior holding strength over time, keeping the boards securely in place. In contrast, nails are more likely to pop out, which can create a tripping hazard. While you can use either, we recommend using 3-inch galvanized deck screws. To minimize the risk of cracking the wood, it's a good practice to drill small pilot holes before driving the screws into the deck joists.
