There could be several reasons why your carpet padding has adhered to the floor. Some of the most common reasons include:
There was intentional gluing or stapling to the surface.
The polyurethane and floor bonded over years of wear.
Pet urine, spills, or other substances leaked through the carpet and created a sticky surface.
If the carpeting in the home has not been changed in a long time, clearing off the padding underneath could be difficult. Pet urine can wreak havoc on carpeting and the flooring underneath. If you plan to reinstall carpeting, remember to use proper cleaning techniques for removing pet urine odors to prevent future problems.
You can tell if you have linoleum or vinyl floors if you look under the floor's surface. Linoleum floors have color that goes all the way through the tile, while vinyl flooring uses a printed image on the surface of the tile, plank, or sheet. This image often realistically replicates the look and feel of wood, ceramic tile, stone, or other natural materials.
Laminate flooring takes about 24 to 48 hours to settle. Before this, planks are not completely acclimated to your home, and walking on them could cause shifting and permanent damage to the flooring. You should allow floorboards to acclimate for 48 to 72 hours before installing so that they can adjust to your home’s humidity and temperature levels, but they will continue to acclimate and settle after installation. For this reason, avoid placing any furniture in the room for 72 hours after installation.
Your floors will continue to settle for a few months after installation, becoming less bouncy as they rest.
If the installer is unwilling to fix the problems and you’re not interested in seeking remediation, you could hide a visually unpleasant floor. This will only work if the floor is structurally sound and the only issue you have is the way it looks. The easiest way to do this is to use large area rugs. You can also paint the floor, although that’s a labor-intensive job if you want to go the DIY route.
