Impervious or vitreous tile and vinyl flooring work best for the kitchen. These surfaces are non-porous (or have a very low porosity) that can stand up against spills, splashes, and plumbing leaks. Some natural stones are also a good fit, but keep porosity in mind. You may need to seal them to avoid stains and water damage to the subfloor.
Spring and fall are the best seasons for installing carpet. Both seasons benefit from moderate temperatures and low humidity levels, which can help the carpet acclimate to the room and settle properly once installed. However, installing carpet during the winter months could result in lower costs, as demand for this service is low.
In order to avoid long-lasting waves, indents, or sticking, it’s a good idea to wait at least 24 hours after fresh carpet is laid to put weighty furniture on top of it. However, you can begin walking on your new carpet right after it’s installed, and doing so can actually help it adhere to the floor better.
Berber is a loop pile carpet known for its strength, durability, and distinct looped look. It can be made from a number of different carpet materials, including nylon and wool. However, Berber isn’t as soft as cut pile carpet, so it isn’t the best carpet for a bedroom (although it’s a good style of carpet for living rooms).
With that said, if you really like the look of Berber, you can still install it in your bedroom—it just might not be as comfortable on your feet as cut pile carpeting.
