"Chris has been coming to our house in Ferndale for almost two years, always top-notch. This is the first year we've had persistent carpenter ants, first noticed when it was still cooler weather. But then I recently discovered what I thought might be "a nest" outside, so I called the office in a panic (thank you Chloe!) Chris came right out and zapped em good. He really went the extra mile to make sure our outdoor kitties were safe & secure beforehand. I can't imagine how spread-thin they must be responding to calls, with warm weather having kicked in so quickly. But he's always patient and thorough. It does not go unnoticed!"

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

Besides reptile sightings, look for droppings resembling small pellets. Shed skin left behind during growth is another clue. Unusual chirping or rustling sounds could also suggest an infestation. If unsure, consulting a professional can provide accurate identification and effective solutions for managing the situation. If proper pest prevention measures aren't taken, a lizard can live up to five years. And that's a long time to have an undesirable roommate.

No, poison isn’t the best way to deal with animals in your attic. It’s unlikely to completely eradicate the problem, especially if you don’t take care of access points. Also, poisoned animals may die and decay in the attic, causing noxious odors.

Some animals may leave the attic before the poison kills them, which could lead to nearby pets or other wildlife eating the animals and becoming poisoned themselves. Ultimately, it’s better to avoid using poison and contact a professional instead.

No, pill bugs do not bite, and they do not transmit diseases. Pill bugs also don’t infest wood like carpenter ants or termites do, so they don’t pose a threat to your home either. In fact, pill bugs pose no threat to humans beyond stealing your veggies.

Yes, rats are social creatures that thrive together in packs. If you spot a solitary rat, there are likely more nearby. Their rapid breeding cycle and ability to slip through minute gaps in walls, floors, and foundations contribute to their presence. An infestation generally entails more than eight rats. A nest typically accommodates five to 10 of these rodents. When you spot one, it is crucial to take action. Rats can transmit diseases through urine droppings and even cause renal failure through bites.

Set live traps or install a one-way door to evict squirrels, rodents, and other animals from your attic. Once they’re out, seal any entry points to prevent the animals from returning. If you’re dealing with an infestation, call a pro.
