"Chad and Scott did a fantastic job, from concept to completion of our project. We needed an interior wall, framing, door, drywall, texture, & painting, & all the details to enclose our kitchen from our entry. They understood our concept, and had the work done from start to finish in 2 weeks. Meticulous, detail-oriented, polite, & fun to have them here in our home are how we would describe our relationship with Chad & Scott. They even let us keep adding other small projects along with the wall construction, always being cheerful & accommodating. We would definitely recommend them to our friends & neighbors for any projects! Susan & Larry"

"Sentri Homes provided the most professional flooring service I’ve ever had. The LVP installation turned out absolutely beautiful, and I was amazed at how quickly everything was completed without sacrificing quality. The crew was fast, accurate, and extremely detail-oriented from start to finish. Everything was installed cleanly, precisely, and with real craftsmanship. The entire process was smooth, efficient, and far beyond what I expected. I would absolutely recommend Sentri Homes to anyone needing flooring installed."

"I could not have been more pleased and impressed by Wesley and his team. They deeply understand the products they offer, the processes for product applications, and the details that create a legitimate result. They showed up on time and did what they said they would do, all at a fair price. I will use them again."

Small jobs welcome

"After months of completely remodeling the interior of my house, the number one thing I get compliments on when people see the transformation is my new floors! Not just how pretty they are, but on the quality of the work. Jesse installed luxury vinyl plank in my entryway, dining room, kitchen, stairs and family room and he did an amazing job. I have a floorplan that presented some challenges but youâ d never know it by looking at the finished product. In addition to the quality of his work, Jesse was the only person I dealt with that showed up when he said he would, worked consecutive days until he finished the job, cleaned up when he was done and came in on his original bid. To say that I highly recommend him is an understatement! Hire him to do your job and youâ ll be admiring your new floors in no time, guaranteed!"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

While it is possible to install carpet yourself, it is a challenging DIY project that requires precise measurement, proper cutting skills, and knowledge of correct installation techniques. The process involves multiple steps, including removing old flooring, installing underlayment and tack strips, and stretching the carpet to prevent wrinkles, which can take several days to complete.

Before starting, consider these factors:

  • Warranty: Many manufacturers' warranties are voided if the carpet is not installed by a professional.

  • Tools: You will need to buy or rent specialized equipment like a knee kicker, carpet stretcher, and seam roller.

  • Complexity: DIY installation is most suitable for simple, straightforward rooms. Projects involving stairs or floor vents are significantly more difficult.

  • Cost: While you can save on labor, the cost of tools plus the risk of expensive mistakes—which may require re-installation—can make hiring a professional more cost-effective in the long run.

Given the potential for errors, voided warranties, and the need for special tools, hiring a local carpet installer is often recommended to ensure the job is done correctly and safely.

There are a couple of color options to consider when installing carpet in high-traffic areas (like entrances and stairways). Medium-toned colors and patterned carpets can work well in these parts of your home because dirt and stains can blend in easily. Dark carpets will also conceal marks and spills, but they show lint and other light-colored debris. Consider a medium brown or tan for your high-traffic areas. Either way, it’s best to avoid paler shades, like white and cream, which get dirty easily.

In most cases, laminate flooring is better for people with dust or other allergies as laminate is easier to clean. Carpet can trap pollen and other allergens, allowing them to be kicked up into the air again with foot traffic. Consult your flooring specialist about the best types of carpet or laminate flooring to use based on your household member’s needs.

Some root cellars are made with concrete, but a dirt floor may be better for your crops' longevity. Dirt can help maintain an appropriate temperature and humidity level, while the concrete might suck up all the moisture. Dirt floors can also bring down the overall cost of your root cellar. But, if you’re going with a dirt floor, make sure you properly insulate between your house and the root cellar.

Transition strips are often called seam binders as they bridge the gap between two floor types. They are common between carpeting and hardwood or wood and tile. Transition strips prevent trips and falls and make the transition from each room appear seamless. They are also often used to even out height differences between floors.
