When we signed a contract with Christman Roofing, it was already mid-May and so we weren't expecting them to get to our roof until the end of the construction season since our house was a pretty small job and they were already booked for the season. They did tell us that if they ended up with some down-time earlier that they would call us to see if they could start our job. We were pleasantly surprised to hear from them a few weeks later, and they ended up doing the job in 2 days at the beginning of June. They arrived early to work on the roof, and work consistently all day with just the usual breaks like lunch, The crew on the roof were very polite and friendly and good workers. All the waste was tossed into a large container that they put in our driveway and later hauled away.

Christman Roofing replaced the roofing on my 1950's old ranch style house. They removed 3 layers of old shingles, then re-roofed the house using a titanium base sheet, ice & water shield, new valley tin, drip edge, ridge cap and Malarky 30-year architechtural shingles. They cleaned up, including rolling yard with a magnet and hauled all waste away. The roof looks really great!

I contacted Christman about some missing shingles on my main roof and leaks that came down into a bonus room off my garage. He showed up and explained that the roof on my entire house had not been done and he was surprised that the entire roof wasn't leaking. The previous roofing job had been done by putting plywood on top of old shingles, without removing the old shingle, then putting shingle on top of that. He said he would get an estimate to me separately on that. Then when he looked at the bonus room roof he said it looked fine except for some makeshift vents. The vent installed was intended for a different application or was put together from other materials. Another estimate would be forthcoming. I nearly had a heart attack when I got the estimates for $4800 - 6700 for the main roof and $1100 for the bonus room. The variation in the main roof estimate allowed for replacement of the plywood. I clarified in person but not in writing that if either the plywood underneath or in the 2nd layer was good enough to use the lower estimate was in place. Turned out that no new plywood had to be used. But, the final bill was $6700. And Christman claimed I misunderstood and acted sooooo tired and put upon. I had another look at the underside of the roof and found joists had been cut when the new vents were installed. Icalled Christman asked that these be repaired. At this point Christman himself stopped showing up. His foreman came instead and was rude about fixing the joists and made sure to tell me I would be having roof leaks again since the way the house is construced it was inevitable. As for the Bonus Room, the improper vent was removed and an L-shaped piece of metal placed over the space. The bonus room roof con tinued to leak. Christman sent another couple of guys who climbeda ladder and stood and looked at the roof and said they didn't see anyting wrong. I climbed up the ladder and started poking around and found a space where there was no wood for the shingles to attach so basically a dead space under the shingles which angled down to the insulation below. The L-shaped piece of metal did not cover the entire space that the previous vent had covered. The workers claimed that that couldn't possibly be the cause of the leak and left saying their boss would be in touch. I never heard back. I called Little Roofing for some help after that.
Description of Work
Bonus room roof leak mitigation and repair which included removal of vents. Main house complete removal of shingles and a layer of plywood to replace shingles then replace vents. Basically a complete roof.
