Hello! My name is Lyssa Flesher and I am a local Great Falls Realtor and Painter. My interest in carpentry and painting started at a young age. My first job at the age of 15 was a finish carpenter at a furniture store in Helena, MT. Throughout high school, my favorite classes were carpentry, industrial arts and drafting. Since then for almost 20 years, I have had many light carpentry jobs and painting gigs. My background is also in art and I was a house muralist at the Children's Museum. So I am definitely willing to go beyond and even paint murals for you. If you need a face painter for a children's gathering, I have a side business doing that. In recent years, I often help landlords and homeowners with interior and exterior painting. I am very efficient and fast and 90% of the time will freehand all the linework. My hours are flexible and I don't mind completing a job on a weekend. Shoot me any upcoming ideas or jobs you have and I'd be happy to bid something affordable! I look forward to painting more and meeting great people along the way.

Painting questions, answered by experts

You should let your initial paint job dry at least 12 hours before opening the door. Check your work after 12 hours have passed to confirm there are no uneven patches, or signs of the old paint showing though—if you see any, we recommend applying a second coat of paint and waiting an additional 12 hours for it to dry.

There are several pros and cons to brick houses, including the fact that painted brick requires more maintenance than bare brick. For one, you need to repaint the surface every 10 or so years. This is a costly and time-consuming process that requires sanding, scraping, washing, and a new coat of paint. You also need to touch up the paint if it chips or fades. Unpainted brick, on the other hand, may need cleaning periodically, but you won’t need to go to the same levels you would for painted brick.

Costs depend on room size, wall condition, and the required coats.

Like any paint, the magnetic type has a shelf life. Depending on the formula and manufacturer, the paint can last between 12 months and 5 years for an unopened can. But even magnetic paint with a five-year shelf life can go bad sooner, depending on the storage location and temperature. Opening the tin and improperly resealing it also expedites expiration.

If your paint smells funky and is still lumpy after stirring, this is a sign it isn’t usable anymore.

While epoxy paint specifically for tile backsplashes exists, it's not always necessary for every project. While epoxy paint is durable, it's also more costly than other types. High-quality enamel paints are suitable for most tile backsplash applications. They also have the added benefit of being more affordable in most cases.
