"Ian did a great job. The entire process from initial quote to job completion was so painless. My doors actually close the way they're supposed to now! I also have a long, empty hallway that has been completely transformed with pictures that he hung up for me. Can't recommend his quality of work enough."

"I have absolutely no complaints.  Pete was pleasant to deal with and very responsive to emails and phone calls.  While visiting about the job, he told me they were about a month out, which was not bad because another company I talked to claimed to be a year out.  So, I gave Pete a check and the signed agreement.  A week and a half later, he called and said they could come out and do our roof.  His guys showed up when they said they would and worked through two blustery cold days.  The crew was friendly and a pleasure to talk to when asking questions.  They had the old roof off and the area cleaned really well the first day, a Thursday. The second day, a Friday, they had the shingles installed and only needed to finish the cap at the peak. They came back and finished it up on Saturday morning.  On each visit, they left the yard clean and in good shape.  I highly recommend Little Roofing and Construction if you have any roofing work you need done.

Gutter Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Use of harnesses and ladders ensures safe roof access.

You can clean the gutters on a two-story house using gutter tongs on an extension pole. However, cleaning second-story gutters from a ladder or the roof is very dangerous and should be done by a professional.

Walking on the roof to clean gutters is unsafe and not recommended due to significant safety risks. It is especially dangerous on steep or slippery roofs, or if the roof is wet or covered in leaves, which increases the chance of a fall. In addition to personal injury, walking on the roof can damage shingles, potentially leading to water leaks. Instead of walking on the roof, use a sturdy ladder positioned on a stable surface to access the gutters. Be aware that using a ladder also carries risks, as it can be difficult to maintain balance while performing the work. You can also use ground-based cleaning tools. For safety reasons and to prevent damage to your roof, hiring a professional to clean your gutters is the best and safest option.

Any small amount of standing water can be damaging to your gutters. It’s recommended that a ¼ inch puddle or more should be addressed. Failure to keep water from pooling in your gutters can result in clogs, algae growth, and pests that damage your gutters over time.

To clean the tops of gutter guards, use a soft-bristle brush or a leaf blower to remove debris like leaves, twigs, or dirt. For stubborn grime, spray the guards with a garden hose, directing water downward to avoid forcing debris into the gutter. If the guards are removable, take them off and rinse thoroughly before reattaching. Regular cleaning, especially during fall or after storms, will help maintain their effectiveness.
