"we had concrete pads added after home construction. One pad had a 2 inch settlement on one corner. Complicating this was a stone wall sitting atop the pad. Excellent restoration was done by Groundworks From Bozeman. After a thorough evaluation by Ben, Chelsea and Tyler were prompt, educational and successful. I Highly recommend this company for your concrete/foundation needs."

"Dustin C. @ DaBella Boise helped us choose the right windows for our application and personally monitored progress from order to completion. The finished product looks great, but the best part is instantly seeing and feeling the difference between modern tech vs. 40y old aluminum framed windows. No more drafts or condensation! Thanks DaBella!"

Small jobs welcome

"Andy worked for me for 3 years as a managing employee involved in all aspects of a manufacturing and sales company. He proved himself adept at variety of skills including carpentry, welding, small engine repair, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair and equipment lighting, but his best qualifications are a “can do” attitude and attention to customer service. I highly recommend him as person, a businessman and a tradesman."

"Was sooo professional, on time, explained everything he was doing. Did not drag dirty hoses through the house and downstairs. I’m so happy I found him. Will keep the ph number handy for next time. Usually a dirty old van with bald tires will show up and have a person matching the van drag dirty equipment around. Not this business. Definitely call them!! Thanks To John and his professional and happy attitude! ?"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Masonry uses units like bricks, cement blocks, and stone with mortar between them. Mortar is generally made of sand and a type of cement. Examples of masonry include the brick or stone on a house, chimney, or freestanding wall. Concrete is a mixture of water, sand, stone aggregate, and other materials, and is poured into forms or moldings. Types of concrete applications include driveways, garage and basement floors, and poured concrete walls in basements and crawl spaces.

Yes, an outdoor fireplace should use fire bricks. Fire bricks are specially designed to withstand high levels of heat and thus won’t crack as easily as regular bricks when exposed to the intense heat inside a fireplace.

To stain brick, you should use a product specifically formulated for brick, concrete, or other masonry surfaces. These stains are designed to penetrate the porous surface of the brick and bond with it. This is different from paint, which sits on the surface and is prone to peeling, flaking, and trapping moisture that can cause damage. Water-based brick stains are often recommended because they are easy to apply, even for DIYers, and they allow the brick to breathe. Avoid using regular paint on brick, as it will not adhere properly and can lead to future maintenance problems.

Dekton is worth the money for homeowners who want a nonporous countertop that resists heat, stains, water, scratches, and UV damage. It comes in a wide array of colors and patterns at various price points to suit different renovation budgets. Dekton is not worth the cost for homeowners who are particularly worried about chipping or cracking.

Drilling into brick or mortar requires the use of a masonry drill bit. Masonry drill bits appear similar to standard drill bits except for the leading tip of the bit. The tip has a bulky carbide arrow-shaped end slightly larger than the rest of the bit shaft. Standard or high-speed drill bits designed for making holes in wood or metal don’t have the ruggedness or design shape you need to drill into brick. They may not go through the brick at all, and if they do, they’re more likely to overheat, crack, or dull before you finish drilling.
