"Absolutely phenomenal! Luis and his crew were polite, honest, and professional. My husband and I have never experienced working with a contractor before, so we prayed for God to put the right people in our path, and He answered our prayers tremendously. We were clueless about materials and how much things should cost on average, but Luis guided us step-by-step. He and his crew built a second walk-in closet for our master bedroom. The work looks so professional, it looks as if the closet is a part of the house’s original design, very seamless! Part of our back porch was used for the space, and one of the living room windows had to be removed. We’re still in awe of how it looks like a window was never there! We plan on using BetaPro in the near future, and highly, HIGHLY recommend this business to anyone!!"

"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"Preston of G-1 Plumbing performed the services and addressed the toilet & drain problem. He was unable to stop leak(made it worse) & submitted his recs to Choice Home for review. I was unable to understand Choice Home's response regarding the faucet leak. Their review stated faucet needed to be replaced BUT it was under "builder's warranty." I built this home in 2005. There is no "builder's warranty" now. I cancelled the proposed work order & paid out-of-pocket. A Friend, who was familiar with my builder and knows faucet components, came to my home, adjusted/cleaned the faucet cartridge and stopped the leak. The CHW tech, Preston, is conscientiuos, however, IMHO lacked the knowledge & experience to stop my leak. Home Warranty Companies, at least in my area, hire owner/operators who need the work to build their business and are NOT the most experienced/knowledgeable & are willing to work for less money. In my experience, Home Warranty Companies want the CHEAPEST resolution, not the BEST. I would recommend G-1 Plumbing for most plumbing issues."

"Our home is 41 years old and we have wanted to cover our patio for years. We never could figure out how to do it because of the way the original roof line is configured. We contacted a contractor on Angie's list but he couldn't get to us for several months. We asked if he would recommend someone and he gave us Tony Mills' name and number. We consulted with Tony and he came out and took a look at our situation and we discussed different options. He then brought his framer by and together they designed a roof to cover the patio that upon completion looks like it is original to the house. There were several issues which had to be dealt with; not the least of which was a chimney which diverted water to the wrong place for our new cover. But that was taken care of by some more design work. They really did a great job. Next came the actual building of the cover. The workmen were nothing short of artists with a saw and nail gun and paintbrush and roller. No kidding! We love our new patio cover and could not be happier with Mills Family Properties. The next time we have a job that needs doing, we will definitely call Tony."

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Successful home building in MS requires materials suited for a warm, humid climate. Install vapor-permeable moisture barriers and use fiber cement siding or properly flashed brick veneer to resist moisture. Select wind-resistant roofing to withstand severe weather. Because the region experiences heavy termite activity, use pressure-treated lumber for all ground-contact areas. For concrete slab foundations, utilize post-tension or thickened-edge designs to resist movement from expansive clay soils.

Helpful?

Expansive clay soils in Tupelo cause shifting, which complicates home building for older pier-and-beam foundations. Look for visible cracks in brick veneer, uneven floors, or sticking doors. Additionally, older homes feature outdated knob-and-tube wiring or undersized load-bearing members that require upgrades. Check if your property sits on a sloped lot or in a flood zone, as these factors require specialized foundation work and drainage planning.

Helpful?

Start your home building project by verifying your property’s zoning classification and flood zone status. Secure all required permits early to avoid timeline setbacks. If you live in a historic district, confirm any exterior restrictions before proceeding. Always hire licensed contractors to handle the work. Finally, schedule foundation and framing tasks outside of the wettest months from January to March to prevent weather-related delays in Tupelo.

Helpful?

Gather your current property survey, deed, and zoning classification before requesting home building services in Tupelo. Document your home’s foundation type, existing utility line locations, and the age of your electrical panel and HVAC system. Record any previous unpermitted additions, known structural issues, or moisture intrusion history. Finally, verify any historic district boundaries or neighborhood rules that dictate specific design requirements for your property.

Helpful?

Thorough home building always includes a closed permit and a final certificate of occupancy. Correctly executed work complies with MS building codes, featuring proper hurricane strapping at roof-to-wall connections and appropriate insulation for the warm, humid climate. Look for grading directed away from the foundation to protect against clay soil issues, along with proper flashing around roof penetrations to prevent leaks during heavy rainfall.
