"Jay Cotton, owner of Angry Beaver Tree Service in New Albany, MS and his employee, Shane, did an excellent job of cutting up huge limbs which were falling from a very old tree. They were endangering my home. Shane climbed to the very top to cut some that were hanging precariously. They cut up the big limbs for firewood and stacked it neatly in a very timely manner. The cost to me extremely reasonable and I would highly recommend them!"

"Excellent service. They responded quickly with a very reasonable price following an on-site observation. They showed up with a well coordinated team, trimmed back a large tree, removed all of the debris and left the area better than they found it. The access was very difficult, and they were able to get to the project with a well coordinated ease. Very personable and asked about certain aspects of the job as they did it. I highly recommend them."

"We did a lot of research to compare pricing and the quality of work because we have had other jobs that we contracted out that we were not happy with and everyone I spoke to said he did a great job. I think its because he is passionate about his work."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Some people prefer to leave or even carve a leftover stump, but we recommend removing it if possible. You can often dig out smaller trunks with a shovel once they have died and dried out. You can have stumps professionally removed, or request a service to grind them down to ground level so they can be replaced with other landscaping or objects.

As a general rule, the protected area should be about 1½ times as wide as the canopy of the tree’s leaves. This digging measurement can vary by tree species and the age of the tree. Of course, that can be a lot of fencing for larger trees, which is why our first step is about making difficult decisions on which trees to save.

Yes, you can hire professionals to move a tree. Arborists and tree transplanting companies specialize in this type of work and use equipment like hydraulic tree spades to safely extract and relocate trees with their root balls intact. Since tree moving is a complex process, especially for larger trees, it’s best left to experts who understand how to protect the tree’s health and ensure the safety of everyone involved.

It’s not always easy to tell when a tree is dying, although signs like dropping branches and brittle bark can sometimes offer clues. It can also be difficult to know whether a tree is dead or dormant, especially if it’s a deciduous tree. You’ll want to wait until a growth season to get a good idea of a tree’s health. When in doubt, contact an arborist for a consultation.

If a tree stump is removed properly, the chances of a tree growing back are low. However, if a tree has a robust root system, roots can sometimes sprout and someday grow into a tree. The chance of regrowth will depend on several factors such as the type of tree, soil quality, and strength of the root system. In general, it is not recommended to plant a tree where a stump was removed.
