"He had issues with his equipment(bucket truck), then his employees not wanting to work(he paid them after they finished the first night- after getting $1000 of the money I owed him so they did not want to work the next day), then finding new people to finish the job(Only one guy and he showed up the next 2 days). While he seemed to be a hard worker and did get my trees down,(took 3 days for 2 trees) he said he would be back within 2 weeks to grind the stumps(on a Tuesday). The Sunday before 2 weeks were up, I texted to see what day he was coming. He texted Wednesday. I waited all day and finally called and he said he forgot to hit send on a text to me, but it would be Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. It is now Friday afternoon and he is no longer responding to my texts. Unfortunately, my husband paid him when he finally got the trees down, assuming he would be a man of his word. He is not good with communicating ANY changes or quick to respond to any texts or calls. **edit** He did finally return my text. He had a family emergency that Thursday afternoon. It took another week, but he finally came and grinded the stumps. His grinder broke down and he had to rent one, so he wanted it for the weekend. Overall, he did do a great job getting the trees down and cleaned up after the job. If it weren't for the lack of communication and the outside factors he had to deal with, I would have given him 5 stars."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

The best way to save money on snow removal is to sign up for a seasonal contract that guarantees service throughout the entire winter. Most companies charge between $200 and $600 for this service, and they’ll often give you a break on the price if you extend annually. Of course, savings will depend on your area. If you live in a moderate climate where snowfall may or may not occur, you could pay more than you need during a light snow year. Still, it’s usually a safe bet to sign a seasonal contract.

It’s possible to use a torch to melt ice on your garage door, but we don’t recommend it. It’s very easy to bring the flame too close to the door, which can melt the weather stripping or even the garage door itself. You’ll melt ice quickly with a torch, but the damage you’re likely to cause can end up costing you a few hundred dollars to fix, which isn’t worth it. Instead, we recommend pouring hot water over the frozen area or using a less intense heat source, like a hair dryer or space heater.

Leaving a significant amount of snow on your roof can be risky. Most roofs are designed to handle about 20 pounds per square foot of snow, but exceeding this limit can lead to a roof collapse. A collapse can cause severe damage to your home and belongings and poses a physical danger to anyone inside. Furthermore, heavy snow accumulation increases the risk of ice dams, which can cause leaks and water damage to your roof, attic, and interior walls.

The fastest and most effective way to remove snow, especially from a driveway, is by using a high-powered, two- or three-stage snow blower, which can clear an area in minutes. Other helpful options include a snow thrower, a wheelbarrow plow, and a leaf blower. If you need immediate assistance, consider hiring a professional snow removal service to handle the job for you.

The cost to purchase a snow blower ranges from $100 to $2,300 on average, depending on the make, model, type, and age of the machine. More advanced two-stage and three-stage models, which are often self-propelled and include features like power steering and heated hand grips, can cost between $950 and $1,500 or more. If you only need a snow blower temporarily, you can rent one for an average of $75 per day from a local hardware store or rental facility.
