"After purchasing an Angie's List Deal, I received the measuring kit in the mail promptly. The template and instructions provided to draw my split table top and each of the leaves were easy to use and understand. I mailed the completed materials and received the table pads very quickly. The table splits in the middle to allow insertion of up to 3 additional leaves. The table also has 2 drop leaves. That's 7 pads. All fit perfectly. I have used them on the table for family parties (not every day) and they're durable and built to last. I keep them in the box they arrived in to protect them when not in use. These are a worthwhile investment."

"The owner and staff of Paul's Tile were great to work with. They responded to our phone inquiry quickly, came to our home, measured, made some recommendations and emailed an estimate after getting back the their office the same day. We did get estimates from two additional tile companies: one before and one after Paul's Tile's visit. We collected information and did the numbers before making a decision. We contracted with Paul's Tile for two reasons; first, they were very professional, secondly, they were very helpful in guiding us through this. They brought sample tiles. After deciding to go with Paul's Tile and noticing that my wife was interested styles of designs, they suggested my wife to come to their shop to see some additional samples and sent us home with samples. This sealed the deal. The workmen who came to our home were professional, polite and on time. They had to work hard taking up the old tile. The owner also suggested other companies for the work they did not do: the bath mirror and sink counter top and bathtub siding. The owner kept in contact to see that we were please with the progress of the work and he came by several times to check how things were going. The master bath is beautiful. We are glad we chose to contract with Paul's Tile. I do recommend this company."

"We moved into a new office, and needed to make it our own.  Since we're a creative services firm, we wanted to do some unique things in here that set us apart to our clients.  We picked a funky pattern of multicolored stripes for some walls, and painted other main walls white so we could put whiteboard paint on them - turning much of our office into a huge dry-erase board.
Unfortunately, our talents in internet marketing didn't translate to picking paint colors!  The two "blues" that we picked actually turned out to be more purple and lavender than a light & dark blue!  (Thanks Sherwin Williams... but I won't get into that).
In spite of that, Chris helped us figure out how to make the best of our situation and recommended some alternatives to the original color scheme. The finished product looks AMAZING and we've already had a variety of compliments in the last 2 weeks.
Since we couldn't close the office down during the painting project, I was really impressed with how well Chris worked around us, and made it easy for us to keep doing business. There was hardly any disruption at all, which made a huge impact to me as the business owner.
We are simply thrilled with our new digs, and Chris made it all come together.  He went above and beyond on the job, and when I had him repaint one wall that we changed our minds on- he didn't bend us over the barrel on it.
Highly Recommended - he's the kind of service vendor that you want to hire."

Stair Companies FAQs, answered by experts

You can refinish stairs without standing by using chemical strippers, buffing with a power buffer, or covering with a different finish. While these are all viable options, choosing high-grit (smooth) sandpaper and working carefully will be the best way to prepare the stairs for refinishing. Power sanders can be purchased at low prices and can save hours of sanding work.

There are several methods for attaching stair stringers to a deck. The best way is to bolt the stringers to the deck joists using three carriage bolts in a triangular pattern. This method offers the sturdiest fit for stairs that won’t budge. Alternatively, attach the stringers to the deck rims using lag bolts or to the posts using adjustable slope hangers.

If the current railing is wobbly, you may prefer to repair the existing railing instead of installing a new unit. Start by tightening any loose hardware. If the sleeve anchors are loose because of large gaps or cracks in the concrete, you might be able to fill and repair these gaps with epoxy. If the railing is cracked or rusty, try replacing some of its parts to regain sturdiness. If the railing isn’t repairable, you can then take steps to replace a stair railing.

Regularly inspect for signs of wear, apply protective finishes, and address moisture exposure to prevent rot. These practices extend the life of stairs and railings.

A properly installed spindle should last decades or more, depending on the material, environmental conditions, and wear-and-tear from teething puppies or kids clunking bags up and down the stairs. Wood spindles may need more frequent maintenance and eventual replacement compared to metal or composite alternatives. Regular inspection and maintenance will help maximize their lifespan.
