"I thought he did a good job explaining what he did do but very disappointed they didn't explain that you had to pay a lot extra money to actually find out what kind of mold if any you had. The $199.00 fee they only looked for mold & tested the air quality. If they found any mold it cost a lot more to find out what type. He did say we had mold in our crawl space but not what kind, that cost more money. Overall good for what he did do."

"I had used a home mold test that had high numbers of a toxic mold present. I called Mold Remediation & Testing Experts who explained that home kits aren t always accurate. They came out and did a professional sampling. The crew was professional and friendly. I got my results back in a day. The test showed my house didn t have a problem at all. Some other companies would have skipped the test and went right into treatment, but not these guys. They did things the right way!"

"Our mortgage company required us to obtain a mold inspection, and Angie's List gave Green Home Solutions our information. Micheal came and did find mold during a visual inspection. He was very knowledgeable and informative throughout the entire process. After the inspection we received a very fair estimate and after accepting it , Micheal was out the same week and finished our home in about 5 hours. The work Mr. Micheal did was above and beyond for the price."

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Mold on window sills is common, especially in damp or poorly ventilated areas. Windows are prone to condensation, which creates the moisture mold needs to grow. Dust, dirt, and other debris on the sills can further feed mold spores. While it’s not unusual, it should be addressed quickly to prevent further growth and potential health risks.

Yes, a one-time water leak can cause mold. Depending on the conditions, mold can begin to grow within 12 to 48 hours. The risk increases with the severity of the leak, high humidity, and when water soaks into absorbent materials like drywall. To prevent mold growth, stop the leak immediately and ensure the area is dried completely; running a blower fan for 24 hours is recommended. If you do notice mold, it's best to call a mold removal specialist to address the situation.

EIFS has several disadvantages, primarily related to cost and moisture. The system tends to have higher upfront installation costs compared to other siding options, and repairs can also be expensive, especially if water damage occurs. A significant downside is its low breathability, which can trap moisture between its layers from either leakage or condensation. This trapped moisture increases the risk of developing mold and rot, which can lead to costly and extensive repairs if not addressed promptly.

Knowing what to expect during a mold inspection can help make the process easier. Prepare by closing doors and windows for 48 hours, turning off HVAC systems for at least two hours, and avoiding disinfectant chemicals for at least 48 hours.

The mold inspection process takes between 24 and 48 hours. Your professional will check walls, fireplaces, air ducts, vents, and windows for visible spores. They will also take an outdoor base air sample. Your pro will send these samples to a lab for testing and advise you on the findings.

Many types of mold spores and fungi spores are constantly present in the air, but they need a friendly surface and moisture to grow. Should some of these spores land on paper or wood with significant moisture present—such as drywall with a paper cover that is soaking up water from a leak—mold or fungi could begin growing. Dampness from leaky pipes, condensation on windows, leaks in a roof, flooding in a basement, or high, prolonged humidity in a small area all can create the excess moisture that mold and fungi need to grow in your home.
