Pools and pool equipment tend to go on sale in the fall to make room for the next year’s inventory. That means if you’re looking for the lowest cost to install a pool in your outdoor space, you should start looking in the fall rather than the summer. You’ll save money and be ready to dive in during the warm months next year. 

Rectangular pools, particularly those made of vinyl or fiberglass, are the easiest to maintain. The long, straight sides, right angles, and smoother surface make regular cleaning a breeze without having to maneuver into curves and nooks. Rectangular pools also tend to be standard sizes, so you may have an easier time when it comes time to replace liners, covers, and other parts.

Avoid the dreaded pool pop by only draining your pool during dry, temperate times of the year. If there is too much moisture or the threat of ice in the ground surrounding your pool, the pressure could disrupt the stability of your pool's floors and walls. Additionally, always open the hydrostatic drains in an inground pool toward the end of the design process.

Setting up a pool on unlevel ground is not recommended as it can damage the pool or yard and put the safety of those using it at risk. If a pool isn't level, the water's weight won't distribute evenly, putting excessive pressure on certain parts. This can cause the pool liner to tear or the walls to collapse, leading to water damage, expensive repairs, or potential injury to swimmers. It is more cost-effective to level the ground correctly before installation rather than waiting to address serious structural issues later.
