"Project took six days for crew of two. They worked all day, not even taking a lunch break The walk in tub required the removal and replacement of door frame and part of door cripplers to make it wide enough for the new tub. They did a lot of the field fabrication in my garage and they left the garage cleaner than it was when they arrived. The project cost a little over $26,000, and of course I also had another contractor install a tankless water heater so we could use the walk in tub, I have another less complicated bathroom to remodel and I will be asking Top Tier to provide a quote."

"We now have a beautiful bathroom. Mark and his crew did a wonderful job and in a timely manner. They worked on our project until it was finished. We went from a tub/shower combo to a walk in tiled/glass shower along with a new vanity, toilet, and floor. They also painted the walls and cabinet. We would definitely recommend them and hire them again for any project!"

"Albert came from Grove to resurface my bathtub which was looking very dingy and ugly. It was to the point it was very hard to keep clean. Albert was very professional and friendly. He worked very efficiently and made sure that everything was sanded smooth to create the best look to my tub. I now have a tub and surrounding walls that look brand new. It is sparkling white and it really makes the bathroom pop! Albert was very prompt in getting to my house to start the job. The tub is absolutely gorgeous and I would hire this company again if I ever have a need for the type of work that they provide. I initially hired another company before I decided to cancel and hire this company as they told me everything that they would be using, explained the time frame and the type of chemicals that they would be using which were more impressive than what the other company I hired had to offer for more money. I am glad I hired them!"

Bathtub Restoration questions, answered by experts

As with any project, refinishing your bathtub presents pros and cons to consider, such as:

Pros

  • The job is typically quick, and your tub is ready within 48 hours.

  • Your bathtub looks new.

  • You don’t need to tear out the old tub and replace it with a new one.

  • You can customize it with the color of your choice.

  • You can’t tell the bathtub has been refinished.

Cons

  • Refinished bathtubs can be slippery.

  • Not all refinishing products are created equal.

  • You need to wait up to 48 hours before using the bathtub.

Of the two most common and affordable bathtub materials, acrylic is notably better. Though fiberglass is cheaper, it is also more prone to scratching, chipping, fading, and cracking. Acrylic holds up better to wear and tear, cleaning, and sun exposure; the slight cost increase is usually worth the increased longevity.

Bathtubs chip for a number of reasons. The primary cause is simply an accumulation of accidents or direct impact from objects over time. Heavy items will do this, like an iron, but so will lighter objects, like shampoo bottles, especially if you drop them from high enough.

You can use other ways to seal the space where your tub and the bathroom tile meet. Using sealant tape, epoxy sealer, and spray foam can be just as effective as caulking your bathtub. When using alternatives to caulk, the one that is best for you depends on your preferences.

Sealant tape takes less time and effort to use, which is why some homeowners prefer it. Meanwhile, epoxy sealer creates a smooth and glossy finish that can complement your bathroom. Lastly, spray foam is waterproof and can act as insulation for your tub.

Costs vary by materials used, surface size, and complexity. Refacing can be cost-effective compared to full replacements, with an average range between $300 and $1,200.
