"I had a good experience with Fred. Cleaned and painted our deck and water sealed the bottom side. We have an outside table with a wood table top. He suggested to use the paint used for the deck to treat the table. Did it for free! Good experience. Will ask him again to help out with some interior work."

Small jobs welcome

"It went well and he did an excellent job installing my gazebo and pool. This equipment had been sitting in my garage for a year so I decided to give Angie's List another try the first time I had a contractor last year didn't show. Steven was polite and professional and I will be using him again for all of my upcoming jobs."

Customers say: Quality work

"I wrote a bad review earlier, that was due to miscommunication. I would hire Jason for whatever job I needed that he could do. He is hard working and very reliable. His rates are really reasonable also."

"The contractor Brian, not only got the work done in record time, but he was courteous, and always kept me in the loop on what and when he would start the project. Not only was he fast, but he was also fair. I would definitely recommend him and use his services again."

"Highly recommend Curtis and CNA Construction for any and all work and repairs around the house. He replaced a rear outside step and handrail post and installed a new kitchen faucet. All work was done to the highest standard. He was friendly, knowledgeable and professional in all respects. Could not have asked for a better result."

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

Losing some water from splashing and evaporation is normal. However, if you notice a rapid drop in the water level or are adding water more frequently than usual, you might have a leak. Other common signs of a pool leak include:

  • Unexplained soft, mushy, or wet spots in the yard.

  • Cracks in the pool's structure or falling tiles.

  • Higher-than-normal water bills.

  • Persistent algae growth or water discoloration.

  • Standing water near the pump, pipes, or other pool equipment.

It is generally not recommended to place a pool directly on grass. Doing so will kill the grass underneath, and the surrounding lawn may also be damaged by heavy foot traffic and splashes of chemically-treated water. For best results, create a clean, level surface by removing the grass and debris. You can then install a sturdier base using materials like sand, a concrete pad, or solid foam.

You can place a pool alarm on the surface of the water or mounter underwater with motion detectors. Alarms placed on the surface will alert you if it detects wave movement. If mounted below the surface, known as "sub-surface,” the alarm detects changes in water pressure.

No, shock and chlorine are not the same thing, though they are related and both are used for pool maintenance. Regular chlorine, often in the form of tablets, is a sanitizer used for routine, day-to-day maintenance to keep a steady chlorine level. Pool shock, however, is a highly concentrated dose of chlorine used periodically for a more intense cleaning. It rapidly raises chlorine levels to fix issues like cloudy water or algae growth and also eliminates chloramines, which are byproducts of regular chlorination. Because their purposes and concentrations differ, they are not interchangeable, and proper pool care typically requires using both.

There are several affordable ways to chill your pool. A pool cover can help prevent the temperature of your pool from rising during the sun. You can also run your filter at night to help aerate the water. The next most wallet-friendly option is a DIY pool chiller or fountain that uses evaporation to cool your pool.
