"First, let me say I would not take the time to write this review if I did not feel Joe's Tree Service is so blatantly in the wrong, and so unaccommodating about resolving the issue. I believe in supporting our communities by patronizing small businesses and I am so disappointed that I had this experience. I encourage any reader of this review to take heed of the fact that, as of the date of this writing, the ability to write reviews on Facebook is not available for this company, and ask yourself why a company would do that. In the event the business owner responds to this review saying that I was not a customer, I acknowledge my Google screen name is different than my real name and the services addressed in this review were rendered 3/16-3/17/18 at my home in Springfield, MO. ************************ I paid Joe's Tree Service my entire tax refund, and then some, to remove a large tree from the backyard. Sometime during the removal, our next door neighbor spoke to Joe outside, indicating they would take some of the wood, so Joe understood that to mean he could ditch pretty much the entire tree, except for the small branches, in the neighbor's front yard. There are huge chunks of the tree trunk that one person couldn't even lift by themselves. I was able to speak to my neighbor two days after Joe's Tree Service dumped the tree in their yard. I asked the neighbor if he intended for the tree service to leave all that wood on his front lawn, he said no, they just wanted a little bit for burning in their backyard fire pit. (I acknowledge that I was not a party to this conversation and concede that it's quite possible the neighbor did not convey his wishes effectively.) So I let Joe know there had been a misunderstanding somehow and the neighbor didn't have a way to saw, split or haul all that wood, and I told him we would really appreciate it if he could come get it and do with it whatever they normally do with trees they remove. And first Joe tried to tell me he would only come get the wood if the neighbor pays him! Then he backed off that and said he *may* be able to tell the neighbor how to get rid of it, but the neighbor has to call him himself. Until somebody deals with this eyesore, me and all my neighbors get to look at it every time we look outside. And I had to pay a pile of money for the honor of being ticked off every time I look outside. Which ticks me off even more. Joe contends once a tree has been removed from a property then it's completely acceptable for him to leave the tree anyplace he can find to do so... even if it means the tree is left laying in a yard 30 feet from the front door of the person who payed to have them remove it. Regardless, when it was brought to his attention that there was a misunderstanding between himself and my neighbor, an honorable business person would have made it right for the person who was their paying customer. He just saw an opportunity to dump the tree and take the money and run. This situation has been a nightmare to deal with and so I encourage anyone to find somebody else if you need tree work done!!! Joe may bid under other estimates, but as the old adage goes, "you get what you pay for." There are plenty of other honorable tree services in Springfield to choose from."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

Costs range from $50 to $150 per hour, depending on the property size and service frequency.

Both rock salt and ice melt are naturally occurring salts. Rock salt is sodium chloride, which is the same as table salt. Ice melt products can be made from a combination of salts like magnesium chloride and calcium chloride or can be those salts alone.

Rock salt comes in large crystals, so it helps provide traction on icy surfaces, whereas ice melt products need to be mixed with sand to provide traction. Ice melt products work at lower temperatures than rock salt, so they might be a better choice if you have a harsh winter climate.

Yes, but it works best with lightweight snowblowers, the single-stage models or electric versions. Also, you need to have a rubberized intake edge on the ground and preferably rubberized auger paddles, not a metal version. Otherwise you may chip or damage the surface as you work. When it doubt, let the snow lie.

You can also use a snow blower on leveled gravel, but only if you carefully adjust the intake height so it doesn’t kick up the gravel and turn it into flying missiles.

In most cases, it’s worth it to pay for professional snow removal. You can shovel the snow yourself, but it’s very labor-intensive and puts you at risk of injury or illness by performing exhausting manual labor in slippery conditions. Paying a professional removes that risk and saves you time and energy. Depending on your agreement, you could wake up to a cleared driveway and a car that’s ready to drive rather than have to get up early to do the work yourself.

When it comes to deciding whether a two-stage or three-stage snow blower is better, you must consider the amount of snowfall you get, the size of the area, and your budget.

A three-stage snow blower is more efficient at clearing higher volumes of snow quicker and removing ice build-up. It’s ideal for commercial use and removing snow from large areas. Make sure to compare various types of snow removal equipment to ensure you purchase the one that is best for your needs.
