"Ed was excellent to work with. He was very conscientious and respectful and his work is excellent. Ed put up drywall in 2 rooms and then painted everything to match. We are very pleased with the entire project and we enjoyed meeting Ed. The whole thing started as a surprise flood in my 87 year old mother's home and was a disaster. Ed showed up took control and we could not be more pleased with the finished product. Thank you!"

"We had quite an unexpected situation when my husband accidentally fell through the ceiling, leaving a pretty big hole in our drywall. Watowa Restoration came to the rescue! Blake responded quickly, assessed the damage, and got everything repaired so smoothly you’d never even know there had been a hole there. The quality of his work was excellent — clean lines, perfect texture match, and he left the area spotless. He was professional, friendly, and made a stressful situation so much easier to deal with. I highly recommend him for any drywall repair or home repair needs!"

"Allen is responsive, can figure things out and makes sure the solutions are in line with the client's expectations. He does his best work with flexible hours without tight deadlines. Reasonable not to exceed cost estimates, and keeps the client updated with periodic progress reports & pictures, by text. It is difficult to find reliable 'small to medium sized' remodeling contractors at the Lake of the Ozarks, but he is the one we will always contact first!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Look for flaking paint or air bubbles that burst and then flake away. Paint will begin to flake after being exposed to minimal moisture or water, so it’s a good indicator of any water damage. If you notice your paint starting to flake, feel the plaster underneath to see if it is soft or damp.

While certain types of textured walls can seem dated (looking at you, popcorn), textured walls are a common sight in both older and more modern homes. The main reason textured walls may be here to stay is that they are an excellent way to hide minor imperfections on a wall and give it a finished appearance. Some homeowners think a coat of paint on drywall is a bit industrial-looking. However, that look works perfectly in modern home design

Yes, you can speed up the time it takes for plaster to dry, but it's important to do so carefully to avoid issues like cracking or crumbling. Proper ventilation is key; open a window or use a fan to circulate air in the room. Heat can also accelerate drying, but be cautious, as too much heat can cause the plaster to dry too quickly and crack. Check the plaster's packaging for the recommended drying temperature and set the room's thermostat accordingly. While managing humidity is important, avoid using a dehumidifier, which can remove moisture too aggressively and result in crumbly plaster.

The age of your home can clue you in to whether you have plaster or drywall ceilings. Homes built after the ‘70s are more likely to have drywall ceilings and walls, while older homes have plaster. You can also do the pushpin test: A pushpin will go into drywall, whereas it’s much harder to push one into a plaster wall. If you’re still unsure, ask a drywall professional to let you know which type of ceilings and walls you have.

Yes, small, superficial cracks are normal as homes settle. Older homes have a higher chance of showing signs of settling through hairline cracks from temperature changes, moisture changes, and soil shifting. However, larger cracks, or discolored cracks from water damage, may signify a bigger problem that requires reparations and preventative measures.
