Unfortunately, that was far from the truth. Not only did they fail to correct the actual problem, but the piers they installed were done incorrectly and not even placed in the proper locations. It’s clear now that the work was rushed and not thoroughly planned or executed with the care it deserved. We’re now left with unresolved issues and the added burden of hiring another company to fix their mistakes. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for reliable or professional foundation repair. With the proper equipment, individuals can DIY smaller applications, though larger projects fare better with professional handling.

It’s possible to pour your own concrete slab and stamp it yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Pouring concrete is a relatively simple operation, but for larger projects, you’ll have to pay for concrete delivery anyway. From there, you’ll need to make sure you get the proper thickness to avoid cracking and sinking, and then you’ll need to work quickly to get the pattern stamped on the surface at the right time—too early, and the pattern may settle back down, but too late, and it won’t set at all. Leave the work to a concrete professional for the best results.

You can put pavers over concrete following a similar procedure as above, but there are a few additional risks you need to be aware of—like stability, drainage, and the patio’s thickness. Once you lay a paver patio over concrete, it will be nearly impossible to treat any issues that your concrete may face, like cracks or water pooling. So while you may save some time and money on concrete removal and site prep, it may cost you more in the long run.

A layer of exposed aggregate concrete should be 1 to 2 inches thick if you’re installing it on top of existing concrete. If you’re pouring a new slab with the finish, slab thickness will depend on the application. Exposed aggregate concrete driveways should be 4 to 6 inches thick in most cases or 8 to 12 inches for commercial vehicles. Sidewalks, patios, and walkways should be 4 inches thick.
