"Donald gave me a very competitive quote on a deck repair and staining for a house I’m going to rent out. He gave a really reasonable quote, communicated the whole time, and finished up in 2 days. I cannot recommend him enough. I’ll be hiring him again for any deck repair and/or build needs."

"Work was expertly done. We were under time constraints to get the work completed. The contactor provided a detailed quote for the work and was able to complete the job on time, while having to working around our staff and customers shopping throughout the store. I was very pleased with the overall experience and would certainly use him again for any other painting or general contracting jobs."

Small jobs welcome

"We have hired Mr. Handyman several times for different repairs to our home from wood rot gutter cleaning to concrete steps to wood privacy fence repair. We always get great service and excellent pricing. We always trust Mr. Handyman to do the work we need. Devon gave us a fair price for our fence repair. And he did the work quickly and expertly. After Devon finished the work he promptly cleaned up the work area. He checked and rechecked his work. When he was done he asked me if we were satisfied with the work completed. I told him we were. If we need anymore work done we will always call Mr. Handyman for the work we need done."

"My yard has never looked better, a friend recommended Imagine Restorations to me a few weeks ago, I called them and I find out that they are owned by a Dad and 2 sons, River and Ryan, who is can't brag on enough, super professional, on time and superb workmanship, they went over and beyond for us, we ended up going for a cedar picket shadow box fence, they even out bid a close friend of mine, they did all this in 2 days practically, the wood was delivered a day in a half late so they had to improvise, if you need a fence or need a fence repaired, call Ryan or River over at Imagine Restorations. RIVER- (816)598-7860 and RYAN (573)289-9721... you won't regret doing business with these guys."

"I had an excellent experience with Don and Midwest Pros. They installed a fence for me that looks absolutely amazing and their quote was the best I received. I have one more section of fence that I need to have installed and you can bet Midwest Pros will get my business for that project."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

No rules state how much of a load-bearing wall can be removed. Rather, you need to adequately support any area that is removed. Support should always be added to as much wall area is being removed. Failing to support the area properly will result in structural damage.

Begin by analyzing the blueprints and gathering the proper materials before framing a house. With the prep stages behind you, begin by framing the floor of a house on the newly set foundation. Exterior and interior walls come next, along with rough openings for doors and windows. Contractors will then add ceiling and roof rafters to finish things off.

Yes, you can hang picture frames, shelves, and other items on Trusscore panels. For lightweight items (less than 30 pounds), the company recommends using adhesive strips rather than nails or screws. However, you’ll need to secure heavier objects to a stud in the wall. In these situations, Trusscore recommends cutting away the panel material and fastening the object to the stud with metal hardware.

To calculate the number of linear feet of baseboard you’ll need, measure the length of each wall of the room you’re installing them in as close to the floor as possible, rounding up to the next full linear foot. If it’s your first DIY molding job, having a few extra feet on hand for miscuts is a good idea.

Yes, you will need a jack for a rim joist replacement. To prevent sagging and facilitate the removal of load-bearing wood, you’ll need to relieve the pressure from this joint before beginning work.

Due to hydraulics and other specialized equipment, a sill plate and rim joist replacement are not typically a DIY project. Hiring a professional structural engineer and experienced contractors is the best approach to replacing rotted sill plates and rim joists.
