"American Patriots Power Washing did an outstanding job cleaning the windows at our Hawthorn apartment community. The team was professional, efficient, and delivered excellent results. The windows are crystal clear, communication was great throughout the project, and they completed the work on schedule. We highly recommend them for any commercial window cleaning needs."

"Very very happy. He was thorough, detailed and didn’t settle. We had some rain come through while we were waiting for the deck to dry before sealing. He stopped by each day and took moister readings until it was in spec. Each time followed up via text with an update (“maybe one or two more sunny days need until the moister count is low, I’ll check again tomorrow”). I appreciate this level of service and not rushing to get the job done. His work (cleaning, sanding, staining) was great, delicate around the areas nearest the house and siding, and did a good job with the detail work around hand rails and beams. After staining he even came back one more time to check on how it was looking after a few days of drying. Would recommend to family, neighbors and friends."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The life expectancy of deck boards varies widely based on the material, climate, and maintenance. Untreated wood boards typically last 10 to 30 years with proper care, while pressure-treated boards can last up to 50 years. Hardwoods generally outlast softwoods. Composite boards also tend to last longer than natural wood. Environmental factors like arid or humid climates can shorten a deck's lifespan. To extend the life of wood decking, it's important to consistently clean and seal it to protect against moisture, UV light, and insects.

It is possible to build your own deck, but it’s typically better to leave the work to a decking professional. Decks can be exceptionally complicated, especially if you want a wrap-around or second-story deck, and you don’t want to risk making an expensive or dangerous mistake. It’s usually better to hire a decking pro who can pull permits and build a structurally sound deck that will last for decades and provide the maximum return on investment.

It’s best to use two screws to secure deck boards into every joist. Securing the boards to every joist makes the deck more structurally sound, while using two screws on the outer sides of the boards can help prevent warping and cupping.

The “best” material is in the eye of the beholder, as each common decking material boasts its pros and cons. Poured concrete is the best budget-friendly option, but composite wood brings high-grade aesthetics without breaking the bank. Wood is the most traditional material, but it requires more maintenance than some other materials. In other words, do your research before settling on a deck material to find the one that’s best for your pool.

Always sand a deck before repainting so the wood is smooth and ready for paint. While you do not need to fully remove paint before repainting, sanding helps remove any areas with weather and sun damage. Sanding also helps remove chipped or flaking paint and opens the wood pores to improve paint adhesion.
