We do everything we can to protect the environment – we recycle not only metals, glass and cardboard, but actually pay specialized recyclers to properly dispose of such things as electronics (“Ewaste”) and tires We directly support well-known groups such as Heartland Habitat for Humanity We directly support lesser-known local organizations such as St. Paul’s pantry, Mission Adelante and SleepyHeadBeds We directly support several international organizations such as South American Mission Society (SAMS), Medical Aid to Children of Latin America (MACLA) (Dominican Republic) and Iglesia de San Juan, Las Delicias, Honduras.

"Junk King Kansas City were great. The best help I’ve had in this massive house clear-out and cleanup ahead of an estate sale and sale of the house. They came to remove five refrigerators (from three floors), three stoves, a washer and dryer from the basement, three large chairs (two from the third floor), a window air conditioner from the third floor, and several other large and heavy objects. They sent seven men and three trucks, for this job that was not even a full load for one truck. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They had everything out in less than thirty minutes, and they cleaned up after themselves. While they were here, they also moved an old pump organ from a landing on the stairway down to the first floor and put it right where I wanted it, even though this was not part of the job. All of this, at a bit less than half of the other two bids I got. I’ve asked them to come back, not to remove anything, but just to help move some things around the house prior to the estate sale. No problem, they can do that. Just call them when I’m ready for that step. These guys are great."

Dumpster Service questions, answered by experts

Although there’s a long list of items you can put in a rented dumpster, several items aren’t allowed. Most dumpster rental companies won’t allow paint cans, refrigerators, medical waste, household cleaners, hot water tanks, oil or fuel, and tires in their dumpsters. However, most let you dump furniture, wood, yard debris, small appliances, excess trash, and construction waste.

When deciding on renting a dumpster vs. hiring a junk hauler, the project and the items are the important deciding factors. A dumpster rental is best for projects like remodeling, including removing broken tile, drywall, fixtures, or other debris. That way, you can easily throw everything in one safe space to remove for later.

If you're clearing out boxes or other items like furniture from your home, it's best to hire a professional junk hauling company. They can do the heavy lifting to clear out the unwanted items from your home, which are often heavy or bulky.

Yes, construction materials like tile, lumber, drywall, and hardware can be disposed of in a dumpster, just not in your regular garbage. As you’re planning your project, just make sure to rent the correct size of dumpster based on the scope of your needs and be aware of weight limits. Tile weighs a lot (along with other construction materials), and your costs could increase if you exceed the weight limit in your contract with the dumpster provider.

The length of time you can keep a dumpster in your driveway depends on local guidelines and your rental provider’s policies. Many companies offer rentals for 5 to 10 days, while others allow extended periods. Many cities limit the total dumpster time for residential areas, typically to no more than 30 days per year. To avoid fines or issues, check with your local public works office and your dumpster rental company to understand the specific limits in your area.

Yes, renting a dumpster is one of the most effective ways to remove yard waste. The average cost to rent a dumpster is $400 per week, but it usually costs less for yard waste removal because you should only need a small dumpster. A more cost-effective alternative is to use dumpster bags for yard removal, especially when clearing lighter debris like leaves, branches, grass clippings, and weeds.
