"Randolph Development (D&D Cabinetry) were perhaps the best part of our entire new home construction. Dan and Danielle Randolph were able to see the vision that we had for our home and they gave creative input that made for a very unique set of custom cabinets! They operate with the utmost attention to detail--we are so pleased with the work they've done for us! Not only did they build the cabinets that we wanted, they also took on some "unfinished" projects that we needed for our new home--fixing a set of antique corbels that we wanted to use on our covered back porch, they also converted an antique fireplace mantel into a beautiful built-in book case that is in the center of our home. Drywall can be better than plaster if you’re installing a new wall and want to keep costs low. It’s much cheaper than installing plaster and provides a smooth, uniform surface. You can technically just paint over hairline cracks in plaster since these cracks are often harmless, but this will mostly be a waste of paint. Paint will only hide the hairline crack for a few months before it shows up again. The best solution is to repair the crack with flexible filler or joint compound before repainting.

You can plaster over regular drywall, but it's essential to prepare the surface properly. Before plastering, the drywall should be clean, free of dust, and any loose or peeling paint should be removed. Applying a primer specifically designed for plastering can improve adhesion. Some professionals recommend applying a base coat of plaster or joint compound to create a better surface for the plaster to adhere to. Proper preparation ensures a smooth and durable plaster finish over regular drywall.
