"David is great to work with. He is reliable and professional and delivers exactly what he promises. We are about halfway through the design process on our kitchen and 2nd floor projects and it has been much easier and less stressful thanks to David's help. We look forward to continuing working with him."

"Evolution design worked with me on designing and addition for a 100 and 5 year old house. We worked on the dimensions of the addition Plus the materials. Evolution understood the local zoning which was amazing that they knew that. We have not started construction. And evolution can help pull the permits and I'm considering them for that as well. All in all it was a long project but it was done efficiently, working with several of the staff an the departments."

"We can't say enough about Top Leader Construction. Like many people, we had to make a decision on if we should renovate our existing home or sell and try to find a new home. Ultimately we made the decision to hire Ron to design and build our dream home, specifically renovating the kitchen, adding a new family room addition, and building a master suite. From day one we knew we were in good hands. Ron listened to our needs and came up with a great plan from concept to design. Work began and the amount of care for our home, lifestyle, and craftsmanship was evident from the beginning. We are now using our completed kitchen and family room every day and it has become the center of our home. The attention to detail and building exactly what we wanted was unmatched. The team communicated with us constantly and everything was completed on time. As happy as we are that the job is done, we will miss seeing the entire team. We could not be happier with how the entire project went and would highly recommend to anyone."

"I feel extremely fortunate to have found Vicki through Angie's List !  She is an extremely talented person who is very easy to deal with. She has a breath of knowledge that allows her to accommodate my tastes, but also ensure that the overall design is in sync with the design and location of my home.  She has  a very diplomatic way of suggesting when I'm going astray with my choices and in every case where she has told me "Trust Me"  I have been delighted ! She is very aggressive in helping me find the best pricing and often times will work with the vendors directly  hence saving me the time.  She also has excellent local contacts.  Everyone I've worked with through Vicki has been timely, professional, and highly competent.
My project is far from complete.  I intend to continue to use Vicki and her expert advice until the end !!!!"

Residential Design questions, answered by experts

Building a home office addition can take three to four months to complete, while renovating an existing room into a home office may take two to six weeks, depending on the extent of the renovations. Your project’s timeline will depend on permit approvals, material availability, site prep, construction delays, and other factors. Your general contractor can keep you up-to-date on estimated completion times.

Yes, utilizing specialized techniques to fit appliances in unique areas.

Costs depend on project complexity, materials, labor, permits, and required revisions.

An architect is usually involved in the process of determining the layout and structural features and requirements of the home itself, taking into account the local codes, climate, and materials needed to make the home structurally sound. Architects may communicate more with contractors and subcontractors throughout the building process. In comparison to architects, interior designers typically focus on the aesthetics of a home interior and possibly exterior, helping the homeowner decide on color schemes, textures, and materials to incorporate into the design.

Yes, open floor plans can be more expensive to build than non-open floor plans. The primary reason is the need for additional structural support to ensure stability, which can increase construction costs. Additionally, open floor plans need powerful HVAC systems to maintain temperature in a wider space. Finally, open floor plans need more flooring to cover a large area. If you are buying a home with an open floor plan, you won’t see dramatic price differences compared to a home with more rooms.
