Customers say: Quick response

"Great company to do business with, all questions answered quickly and so polite. Nice installers, worked quickly and in the dark. I am so glad you connected me with this company and had them make contact. Definitely will use them again; after removal my lighting arrangement will be stored for me for next year. Great way to recycle."

"I could not be happier with the final product! The first pic is the old bathroom from the 60s when the house was built. The rest are the final rebuild and it looks great. I would highly recommend VMK Remodeling for any project that you might have. I am also going to get a bid on redoing the deck on the back of the house as Vince's company does decks as well! Thanks to his great crew as well, great people to work with."

"Great responsiveness, polite and quick. I had two roofers come before and look at the problem with no follow up. Good Guys showed up quickly, did a great job of finding the problem, fixing it and doing some dry wall and painting of the interior. I’m extremely happy with the reusults and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them."

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

Outdoor Christmas lights cost between $80 to $300 on average without installation. This comes out to about $4 to $50 per strand. You can get a box of outdoor Christmas lights for as little as $20, if you just want to decorate a small area, like a doorway. If you want to go all out and cover your entire home, you'll need between 10 to 20 strands of 100 to 200 bulbs each.

In the Christmas days of yore, people braved winter weather to staple or tack their Christmas lights onto their rooftops or nearby surfaces like the fascia boards. Problems quickly emerged with that approach. Damage to the roof, even small marks from staples, provides entryways for moisture and similar issues that can hasten roof rot, wear, and associated leaks. Plus, some homes had tough fiber cement boards or other materials where staples and screws didn’t work.

While Christmas lights are a wonderful way to light up your home during the holiday season, they don’t have a long lifespan. Most incandescent Christmas light bulbs are designed to last between 1,000 and 1,500 hours—or about one to three holiday seasons. More durable LED bulbs should last about 10 times as long.

An affordable Christmas light bulb testing and replacement tool can make the job easier. But you can most likely make all necessary repairs yourself using common toolbox items if you’d rather avoid purchasing another gadget.

Yes, you must use an extension cord specifically rated for outdoor use to power outdoor lights, such as Christmas lights. Extension cords intended for indoor use lack the protective properties to withstand exposure to outdoor elements. To safely hang and power lights outside your house or in your yard, always connect them to an outdoor power source using an outdoor-rated extension cord.
