"He was extremely timely. Got the job done quickly and did an excellent job. He added gravel to our driveway and installed a French drain. We are very pleased with the results. He was also priced reasonably."

"He not only did it right, he had a huge mess to fix after Ameren came through and tore everything up to lay a larger natural gas line for the charcoal plant. They came and fixed it ( if you can call it that). It lasted 1 year and it was crumbled. Juan came in tore everything out and it is not not only beautiful, but it was done well enough it is going to last for years. This is not the first job we had him do, all the jobs were done professionally and in a very timely manner."

"For the past two years, Tim and Down & Dirty Land Clearing have done my site work, excavating, and trail making. Excellent workmanship and a clear commitment to safety every step of the way. Tim genuinely cares about doing the job right. I will continue my relationship with Down & Dirty and can comfortably recommend them."

"Perfect job! First time they came out they determined the problem was in the gasline encased in stonework. Recommended getting a stonemason to chip away the rock, expose the line. Lined up the stonemason and phoned Jamison to make the appointment. Owner of company told me he would personally come out at the time of the stonemason to make sure no more stone than necessary removed. He did so. After rock removed, one of Jamison's plumbers came out, replaced the gasline (obstructed w/years of corrosion) and replace the ignition switch, reassembled the burner and ignited the pit. This company has first class workers and know what they are doing! Highly recommend for complicated jobs, such as this one! Thanks!

"Spencer and his crew came over and did an amazing job. They also took care of a couple other drainage and run off issues I didn’t even know about until we looked at the project. The crew showed up and got the project completed ahead of schedule even with Mother Nature fighting us a few days. It’s hard to find a good concrete and excavation company that shows up here at the lake. These guys did great."

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

Prior to excavation, you should prepare the dig site and call 311 before you sign anything.

To get your site ready for excavation, you should move anything in the area that isn’t affixed to the land. You can save money on the excavation by removing hardscaping, including walkways, decks, concrete patios, and paver patios.

Before you carry out any digging, you should call 311 to confirm that there are no utility lines running through your excavation site. Skipping this step could lead to severe injury and property damage if your excavator hits a water, sewage, or gas line.

Yes, new home construction will always require building permits, no matter where you live. In most cases, you’ll need a general construction permit, along with plumbing and electrical permits for the utility lines in your home. Depending on where you live, you’ll likely find that you also need permits for things like connection to a sewage system or installing exterior components, like decks, driveways, patios, and curb cutouts. Leave navigating the permits required for new home construction to a professional to ensure your home is built legally and safely.

Yes, they assess topography and potential risks related to flooding.

When planning for land survey costs, you should consider the following elements as major contributors to the overall cost:

  • Size of your property in terms of acres or square feet

  • Complexity of the terrain in terms of hills, elevation changes, rocks, water, and other features

  • Type of survey you need (boundary survey, topographic survey, or a combination of survey types)

  • Distance traveled for the professional surveyor

Permit requirements to clear land vary by municipality, so whether or not you need permits depends on where you live and what you’re removing from the land. Some building departments will require permits for any underground work or excavation, meaning grinding down tree stumps on your property would require permits. Others mandate individual permits for each tree you remove. You can contact your local building department or a land-clearing specialist near you to see if permits are necessary for your job.
