"George and his company were very prompt and professional. He offered great advice on what was needed and he gave a very honest assessment of what needed to be done and how I could save money without sacrificing quality or the integrity of the finished product. These are qualities you don’t see much anymore when profit is the priority. Do yourself a big favor and use George and his team at M&W Excavating. I highly recommend them.9"

"Absolutely the best worker. The driveway went from lumpy and bumpy, rain grooves and grass in the middle to a beautiful level perfect driveway. Will definitely recommend them."

"Told me a price which was fair and stuck to that price . He had the job done within one week. He did a front sidewalk and a concrete pad in front of garage. He brought in gravel. But before he did those things he graded the road so the slope to the garage was not so steep. We had 2 other guys work on the slope and we were not satisfied but he fixed it. Loved his work!"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Consultation with the local government helps identify necessary permits, avoid project delays or legal issues, and protect project integrity.

Yes, trenchers can go through gravel. Gravel is made up of smaller, softer rocks that certain trenchers are able to cut through. Just be sure to use a rock wheel trencher or chain trencher, both of which are made to cut through rocky landscapes and gravel pathways without dulling the teeth or chain.

In most areas, you will need a permit for excavation work, even for projects that only involve grading or yard leveling. Permit requirements depend on your local government and the scope of the project, but they are especially common for significant digging or work that could affect utilities or public property. These permits help protect the local topography and prevent drainage issues. An experienced excavation company will typically know whether permits are needed and can often handle the process of pulling and closing them for you. You can also verify permit requirements by contacting your local building department and describing your project.

The cost to repair a crawl space runs between $1,500 and $15,000, depending on the extent of the damage. Major flooding or water repairs can cost up to $10,000 for removal and repairs. Replacing a crawl space beam due to rot or damage can cost between $1,500 and $5,000, while removing and replacing damaged insulation costs between $1,000 and $4,000.

A mini excavator can dig between 5 and 11 feet deep, depending on the type and size of the mini excavator.
