Customers say: Quick response

"I give Mr Schneider an A+ for communication and willingness to do the job but during negotiating about the job I found that my neighbor had a background in what the project entailed and I decided to go with his services. I like to deal with someone as courteous and punctual as Schneider Excavating and hope to do business with them in the future."

"Saw an add for rock delivery and driveway repair on Facebook and after messaging them I received a quick response. They communicated better than any company I have hired to do landscaping or excavation work I can not do myself. They far exceeded my expectations and the price was very reasonable."

"Outstanding! Most professional and customer oriented business I have ever done business with in over 50 years! We have an in-ground pool that was installed 17 years ago. This year the plumbing for the pool developed serious leaks that required all the plumbing be replaced. We did some searching for companies that would consider excavating. It had to be done with surgical precision as utility lines were involved as well as keeping the fiberglass shell of the pool intact, which could easily have been cracked with one wrong move of the excavator. Don Muns and his crew came to the rescue. They expertly coordinated the excavation and readied the pool for the pool company to install new lines. When done, they carefully backfilled the trench and poured a beautiful concrete slab/deck. Don always kept us informed as to what he was doing and always kept our questions and concerns answered. They worried tirelessly, and hardly ever took a break while here, better than many companies that I have known. Neither one of them smoke either. If you should need an expert excavator with top of the line equipment and/or concrete work, look no further. Titan Paving and Drainage can handle it and put your worries to rest. If we should ever need them for drainage diagnosis, excavating, or anything beyond the capabilities of this do-it-yourselfer, Don will be the first person I will call. I believe he even as pics and a couple of videos out there on FaceBook and YouTube of the job site, the challenges it presented, and the finished product."

"Mike and Arch came as soon as possible to dig an excavation and bury one of my llamas that had died unexpectedly. They both were kind, empathetic and professional in dealing with the situation. I would highly recommend them. Because they could relate, they helped take some of the sting from my grief. Excellent service and caring."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Directional drilling is complex and requires training to use the advanced machinery. It can be challenging to monitor the position of the drill since there’s no direct line of sight. Directional drilling can also be more expensive with a cost of $10 to $30 per linear foot compared to $5 to $12 per linear foot for trenching.

The best way to protect tree roots is to avoid the roots entirely by excavating outside the root radius of the tree. For nearby projects, it’s a good idea to construct a temporary retaining wall. But that’s not always possible, depending on the project and the root system. In these cases, consider using alternative equipment like an auger to tunnel under the ground.

Remember, tree roots can damage nearby cement foundations as they grow. If a tree is close enough to interfere with large excavations, it may be better to remove the tree than risk future problems.

Digging a bush up by the roots is the most natural DIY method for removing a bush stump. Start by identifying the shrub type and revealing its roots. Cut the shrub to its base and loosen the soil, ensuring no utility lines are nearby. Optionally, treat the base with herbicide, then dig around the roots and cut a circle around the shrub using various tools. Dig a trench, cut the base of the root ball, and finally fill the hole to prevent regrowth. This thorough process ensures complete removal without damaging surrounding areas.

It takes one hour to dig a 10-foot trench by hand. Use a trenching shovel with a sharp tip and a long head. Plan for more time if your soil is heavy or rocky. Consider renting a trencher if you’re digging a long or deep trench or if you have challenging soil or terrain.

While general contractors sometimes handle demolition, you can also look specifically for local demolition contractors. Demolition experts need to understand structural integrity, the equipment needed for safe demolition, and the permits required for demolition.
