"This was an outstanding experience from my perspective.  The estimate process went smoothly, and David was very upfront about how he/his company does business.  The final price came in according to the estimate, and I appreciate that he gave me real estimate numbers, versus lower numbers that would inflate through the course of the project.
David, Ric, Ben and Cole did a great job throughout the project.  I felt comfortable with them in my house, whether I was in the house or not.  The initial demo of the guest bath began Oct 26, 2012.  All the major work for both the guest bath and main bath was completed by Dec 16, 2012.  Final touch-ups were completed on Dec 26, 2012.
David was extremely responsive via phone/email during the project (where I was away much of the time).  I had several questions along the way and he was always polite in answering them.  I also have an attention to detail that can be annoying to others, and again, David, Ric, Ben and Cole were polite/responsive when I asked questions or pointed out minor concerns.
I have a smaller home with a single-car driveway, and Ethos worked around that by hauling away demo trash/debris every night.  They set up their workshop in the garage.  Also, they cleaned up the worksites every day (except near the end of the project, when I suggested that they didn't need to in order to save time).
There were a couple of days where I didn't see progress, but after a quick phone call to David, he would be able to explain all the "behind the scenes" work that had occurred, and it made sense to me.  The guys worked both Saturday and Sunday (Dec 15 and Dec 16) in order for me to be ready for guests on Christmas.
Hindsight being 20/20, I wouldn't schedule a remodel this close to the holidays again.  It was stressful having the house in disarray, trying to prepare for Christmas/wrap presents/bake, clean, etc. etc. with remodeling going on.  However, David said they would complete the work in 3 weeks, and by working through the last weekend, they did complete the work in that timeframe.
I highly recommend Ethos and will work with them again.  They were honest, cared about the work they performed, communicated well, and treated me (and all my questions) with courtesy and respect.  Plus they have great senses of humor (a must, in my world).
Also, I think that the project facts speak for themselves - 2 bathroom remodels in 3 weeks on budget.  What more could a client ask for?

"I had a great experience with Dry Basement. The estimator Curtis was extremely knowledgeable, clean cut, friendly, and straight forward. He arrived right on time and got to work. He reviewed my situation with laser measuring equipment and had a written estimate for me on the spot. We agreed on a price for the work and scheduled my repair for their next available slot, three weeks later, on December 11, 2014. I received a call from their office staff two days before the scheduled work, to remind me of my appointment and their estimated arrival time. The crew of four guys showed up right on time and got straight to work. The foreman, Alvin, was great and worked just as hard as every other guy on the crew, and these were about the hardest working guys I've ever seen in my life. Everyone was super friendly (my Labrador retriever vetted each of them and approved). It was a wet, sloppy day outside, and they put plastic down on my carpeted floors and stairs to keep things tidy. They installed 10 u-channel braces in the basement to shore up my slightly bowing foundation (just under 2" of inward bowing), and secured it to 8 yards of concrete - that's 32,000 pounds worth - in the yard. The cracks inside were sealed with polyurethane. They finished the job in one day, as promised, and cleaned everything up when they were done. In fact my basement was cleaner when they left than when they showed up. I would definitely hire these guys again, though I don't plan on having to, since from the looks of things this house isn't going anywhere. HIGHLY recommended."

"Amanda was really very good!  At first I was very skeptical, thinking why did I pay money to just speak with someone on the phone about my kitchen remodel project... but after just a few minutes of her addressing some of the issues/questions I emailed to her earlier, I knew it was worth it.  It was very clear that she knew her business and she gave me several ideas that I had not even thought about.  I told her that I would definitely recommend her to friends and I will very likely use her again myself for my next home project!

"Hammer and nail replaced our front porch . It was done in no time . Fastest worker I have seen. Done with precision and even worked around plants, shrubs and flowers I wanted to save. I also hired them for a bathroom tiling project. It was finished quickly and looks beautiful. I also hired them for other miscellaneous projects. They are helpful, professional and take pride in their work. I highly recommend them."

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

It is common for a contractor to ask for a down payment before starting a project, especially for jobs that require purchasing materials and equipment or hiring a crew. The deposit amount can range from 10% to 50% of the total job cost. While a request for up to 50% is not unusual, a contractor should not ask for more than that, and you should never pay for a project in full before the work has begun. To protect yourself, always discuss payment terms before starting and have a written contract that outlines the project timeline and expectations. Additionally, be sure to hire reputable contractors and check their licensing and insurance before the project begins.

Yes, in most cases, finishing a basement is worth the cost. The project adds valuable, usable square footage to your home and typically provides a return on investment (ROI) of 70% to 75%. For example, an average basement refinishing project costing $32,000 could add between $22,400 and $24,000 to your property's value. The final value added depends on factors like your location, the quality of materials and workmanship, and the features you include, such as a living space, bedroom, or bathroom. To be officially counted in your home's total square footage, the finished space must comply with all local building codes, including requirements for points of egress. However, in areas prone to flooding, a finished basement might be seen as a liability by potential buyers and could potentially decrease your home's value.

Professional remodelers streamline the process, manage permits, and handle renovations efficiently—significantly mitigating risk while maintaining standards.

Yes, you can add a bathroom to an unfinished basement, but you’ll want to take proper precautions if doing so. As with any bathroom addition, you’ll need to make sure that it’s approved by local building authorities first. With unfinished basements, you especially need to keep an eye on proper ventilation practices.

Although it’s not required, air ventilation in a finished basement can help improve the air quality, prevent moisture and mold issues, keep musty odors away, and also maintain the air quality throughout the rest of your home. Proper ventilation will help maintain the value of your investment in finishing your basement. Try basement ventilation methods like installing vents or a dehumidifier for best results.
