Small jobs welcome

"So far, so good. After being abandoned by BladeRunners after I complained about their shoddy work, I needed a new person quick. E&R returned my call quickly, I hired him to do the driveway once to show me his work and was impressed. His reviews are correct. He is not the cheapest, but he offers a level of service the others I have hired don't. So you get what you pay for."

"They cut off all of the branches that hung over my house and the dead branches. The salesman told me which branches should be removed, the man that cut them decided one of the branches that should have been cut off, shouldn't be because it looked better. That was in the fall, now that it's summer and the leaves are on the trees, that branch is hitting the boulevard tree. That was the reason it should have been cut off."

"I hired Goettl Tree Service during the first week of December 2023. I put out a Work Order per Angie's and was contacted by Tim Goettl. Tim was out to look at the Tree Trimming Project that I needed to have done in less than 24hrs and gave a Bid and time period in which the job could be done. I also had some other Tree Services give me Bids for the Job on hand and found Goettl Tree Service to be the best Tree Service for the job. I was able to work out a project date to have the work completed and it was Done & Completed on December 8, 2023. I was very satisfied with the Tree Service and Job Performance provided for my Tree Trimming Project. I will use Goettl Tree Services in the future and would recommend them to Friends & Family. Great Job Thank You Steve P Eden Prairie, Mn"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

White vinegar does not kill ivy on trees because its acetic acid concentration is not high enough to overpower it. Vinegar is an effective herbicide for weeds and other plants, but not for the strength of most ivies, including poison ivy and English ivy. You should use an herbicide to kill ivy, such as one with glyphosate, imazapyr, or triclopyr.

A few signs a tree may be dead is if the leaves are dead and there are no signs of new blooms. You can also perform a scratch test on some of the branches to check the condition of the cambium layer beneath the bark.

If it is green, it is still alive, but if several are dry, brittle, and brown, the tree may be dying or dead. Always consult an arborist before assuming your tree is dead because you may be able to save it.

Salt, herbicide, light deprivation, boiling water, and burning can all help dissolve a tree stump. You can also bury the tree stump in soil or mulch to help it rot naturally. Killing a tree stump prevents future regrowth, but you may also remove it by digging it out or grinding it.

Using vinegar to kill tree roots is just one of the clever ways to use vinegar around the house. The method works best when you apply vinegar as directly to the root system as possible. For example, if the old tree roots and stump are currently exposed, drill holes in the tops of the roots and pour undiluted white vinegar into the holes to soak into the plant. Remember that vinegar can kill the surrounding grass and plants should it pour over the edge.

If you’re wondering why tree trunks are painted white in your area, it’s usually to prevent sunscald, a condition where extreme shifts in temperature can cause tree bark to split. Fruit trees are especially vulnerable to sunscald, so this treatment is worth considering if it’s something that affects your trees.
