"If i could give more thank five stars I would! Paint Bros was excellent in EVERY way. Paint Bros responded quickly to our questions, discussed options thoroughly with us, was open to our ideas and yet contributed his own helpful suggestions and expertise to the project. He provided a fair bid -- similar to other bids. The The hard-working owner checked in with us everyday, and he did the work himself with a helper. He showed up when promised and was always positive and cheerful and really nice to have around. He worked in terrible weather (when others might have found an excuse not to show up) and did REALLY nice work. Our deck never looked so good! Paint Bros did our project the right way, not the easy way. We also added to the project and had them do our dock while they were here and they were willing to take that on too. We could not be more pleased. We have worked with a lot of workmen over the years and feel very confident recommending Paint Bros and we WILL hired them again."

While often used interchangeably, flat and matte paints are not the same. Flat paint has no gloss and is completely shine-free, while matte has up to 10% resin, giving it a slightly velvety appearance. The best exterior paint type to use on a stone house is an acrylic latex, preferably a semi-gloss or eggshell, as it is durable and easy to clean. Not only is it easy to work with and readily available in a multitude of colors, acrylic latex paint is also one of the best choices for an eco-, kid-, and pet-friendly paint.

You don’t have to, but, on certain surfaces, sanding will allow the paint to adhere more easily.

Latex paint is a good option to use on wood panels because it's user-friendly and easy to find in home improvement stores. It comes in a variety of finishes ranging from high-gloss to flat. In most cases, paint primer is necessary before painting over wood paneling. A hardy primer formula covers up stains and leaves a grippy surface for the new paint to hold onto. If you don’t use a primer first, you risk poor adhesion, visible blemishes, and a paint top coat that could flake away later. 

There are two primer choices: oil-based or latex-based. Choose an oil-based primer for durability and adhesion, but prepare for extra dry time and more VOC (volatile organic compounds) fumes. Or, pick a stain-blocking latex primer. They’re easy to apply, clean up, and affordable.
