"Kerry Bauer with Design Effects did a beautiful job refinishing our 1959 maple veneer kitchen cabinets.  He was extremely conscientious, listened to what we were looking for and improved upon it by adding his expertise in wood and design.  I explained how I always wanted dark cherry cabinets, but realized that was not possible with our small galley kitchen and the other existing woodwork.  I asked if it would be possible and tasteful to make the trim at the top of the cabinets a dark cherry color.  He thought it was a good idea and also suggested adding a dark cherry trim piece under the top cabinets to tie it together.  We love the results.  It went from having cabinets that were cleaned up, but the same, to having updated looking cabinets that pop.  Kerry had his work cut out for him, because of the wear and tear on the cabinets over the years.  When I found out the cabinets were only a maple veneer I wondered if it was worth refinishing them.  He assured me it would turn out nicely, but he would have to be careful not to sand too deeply.  We would hire Kerry again without hesitation.

"I contacted Chris based on a referral from another Angie's List contractor. We had some drywall work done on our kitchen ceiling and minor repair work done on the dining area ceiling. I contacted Chris based on a referral from the drywall contractor. I had the ceiling measurements for both rooms so when I called Chris I was able to tell him what was needed and provide him with the measurements. Based on that he called me back within 5 minutes with the estimate. We thought the estimate was very reasonable so didn't even bother getting additional estimates. We agreed on a date and Chris showed up promptly on the date. He taped and put up barriers so the floors, walls, cabinets, etc so there wouldn't be any chance of paint drops getting on anything. He did the priming and then painting. It looks fantastic. He did an excellent job. He cleaned up everything and put everything back in place after he was done. He said it didn't take quite as long as he thought so the bill was slightly less then the estimate!!! We were thrilled with the work and Chris."
