"Chris and his partner did a phenomenal job on EVERYTHING. The previous tenants in the house I just started renting had dogs and cats and the dogs peed in one of the bedrooms and the cats peed in one of the closets. The smell was horrendous even after I used a rug doctor half a dozen times on it. The smell is now gone and the carpet looks virtually brand new. They also did both sets of stairs and those were disgustingly stained and surprisingly they got about 95% of it cleaned up and looking amazing. They also steamed and shampooed my huge couch that the cushions on the seat and back come off from. My 3 littles left some serious stains on my couch and now I can't even find one single stain. They even were able to get the twix bar that was shoved behind a cushion and melted. I definitely did not think they would be able to get that chocolate and Carmel off of there let alone make it look like it never happened. 100% reccomend these guys. They are also super reasonably priced!"

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Yes, masonry fireplaces require an adequately constructed chimney to vent smoke and gases.

Running a gas fireplace costs approximately $0.35 per hour for natural gas and $0.62 per hour for propane, though these figures can vary significantly based on fuel prices in your area. On average, the annual cost to run a gas fireplace is between $400 and $640. The exact impact on your utility bill depends on several factors, including how often you use it, the size of the room you're heating, and the fireplace's BTU rating. Some models with a constantly running pilot light will consume a minimal amount of energy even when off, although many modern fireplaces do not require one. If you are looking for a more energy-efficient option, consider an electric fireplace.

You can use normal bricks as cladding for a concrete or clay pizza oven or as a base underneath one. Fire bricks or solid clay bricks are necessary for an outdoor pizza oven’s floor, and you can use clay bricks for the rest of the oven.

A fireplace that doesn’t require a chimney is simply called a chimneyless fireplace. Don’t confuse these with ventless fireplaces, however. There are some fireplaces that require ventilation via a system of pipes, not a chimney. More specifically, the fireplace in question will likely be called by its name, such as electric, ethanol, or balanced flue.

The best location for a wood stove depends on your home's layout and venting options. For optimal heat distribution, a central location on the ground floor, such as the living room, is often recommended. If you have an existing, functional chimney, installing the stove there can simplify the venting process. Alternatively, placing the stove near an outside wall can make it easier to route a new chimney through the roof. For safety, ensure no combustible materials are near the stove. Building codes typically require 20 to 36 inches of clearance between the stove and any side walls.
