"I have used Steve a number of times before, so I knew what to expect. Steve is a very hard worker, puts in a full days work, covers up absolutely everything that might catch a stray drop of paint and cleans up each day before he leaves. Steve knows his business and gets it right. I had initially hired him for a week, but the job was huge, so he gave two more days before he had to move on. He repaired miles of tape on corners of sheetrock that had pulled away form the edges ( typical of newer house builder quality, unfortunately!). He also repaired dozens of nail pops and then needed to repaint entire walls, including an entire winding staircase. I also had Steve repaint the kitchen , dining area, dining room and major portions of three bedrooms and the basement . This was a BIG JOB and very tedious. As always, Steve did a first class job at a very fair price."

"I first googled handyman in Marcell a few years ago and Handyman Pete appeared. I called and he answered personally and came over that day to introduce himself. From that day forward he has become a friend who we completely trust entering our cabin to do any project I throw at him. We work together as a team communicating by phone or text even sending photos along the way of ideas and projects in process and completion. He has such great ideas to share and he’s open minded to all mine. We are a great team!!! He’s so easy going and fun to work with and his pricing can’t be beat. We plan on having him replace our existing roof to metal next. It’s necessary for paint to completely dry before exposure to rain, and that drying time varies by the type of paint used. Oil-based paint takes 6 to 8 hours to dry on average, meaning that’s the minimum time needed between the last brush stroke and the first raindrop. Latex paint dries faster at around 1 hour, and acrylic paint is even quicker, usually drying in about 30 minutes. If rain is in the forecast, check the paint manufacturer's details before laying on a new coat. 

There are several pros and cons to brick houses, including the fact that painted brick requires more maintenance than bare brick. For one, you need to repaint the surface every 10 or so years. This is a costly and time-consuming process that requires sanding, scraping, washing, and a new coat of paint. You also need to touch up the paint if it chips or fades. Unpainted brick, on the other hand, may need cleaning periodically, but you won’t need to go to the same levels you would for painted brick.

Chalk paint can be applied without sanding first. Keep in mind that while there are a lot of chalk paint color options available, there aren’t as many choices as latex or oil-based paint.

You can also learn how to paint furniture without sanding using a liquid deglosser, sometimes referred to as liquid sandpaper. This can remove any old paint, gloss, or varnish, without the need to manually sand. Apply the deglosser using a cloth, then wait for the chemical to penetrate through the surface. Once it soaks through, you should be able to wipe away the residue with a towel. 

Wait at least 48 hours before taking a shower in your newly painted bathroom. Even if the paint feels dry to the touch, it needs time to fully cure and resist the high humidity from a hot shower. Keep the bathroom well-ventilated by running an exhaust fan or leaving a window open during the drying time and while showering. 

The short answer is yes, it’s more expensive. This is because chalk paint is a more complicated blend of materials and is harder and more costly to produce. The average cost per quart is around $35 to $50. Comparing that with regular paint, which runs between $9 and $25 per quart, you can see how chalk paint costs add up. The good news is that you will apply fewer coats.
