"We had Leo and his crew repair and stain our deck a few years ago, and had them back to paint our main level - bedrooms, bathroom, living room, family room, kitchen, and laundry. They also removed and refinished popcorn ceilings. Besides doing a great job. The guys from High Rollers are just fun to have around the house."

"I had just bought a house in Santa Fe that desperately needed new paint throughout to brighten the interior. There was just over a week between close and when I'd be arriving with my furniture. Several larger painting companies were booked into early next year. I found Harald on Angi-- he gave me a fair estimate and *guaranteed* he could do the whole job in a week. He started the morning after close and worked every day to get it done, even applying two coats to most walls. He was particularly adept at finding the right color that would brighten the walls/ceilings while still speaking to the stained wood doors and trim. The new paint has made a world of difference, the house looks and feels so much better. I would recommend Harald to anyone looking for someone reliable who does good quality work."

"Jamie gave us a couple options and we went with the pressure washing. He also came back and sanded areas that he did not charge us for. We had some issues with weather as far as getting it stained but he kept in touch with us and now the deck looks awesome. He did a great job at a very fair price and would highly recommend him."
Before
The paint was in pretty rough shape.
The polyurethane has darkened over the years. You can see where pictures were hung.
Quite a bit of scraping on the lower portions of the porch trim.
Fence is in good shape, but heavily greyed by the sun

"I bought Angie's Deal for Trim/Base Painter for day for $235. I am doing the final finishing of my full basement and needed the primed MDF base/trim/casing painted and a patio door, an interior pine French door, two windows and three oak doors primed and painted. Obviously, more than what could be done in a day. I was going to do all of it myself, but when this deal came up, I decided to hire Brian to do as much as he could in a day.
I scheduled with Brian and he showed up right on time on the date we chose (actually, a little early; very punctual). He came in and assessed the job before starting, asked questions, etc. Since it was more work than I knew could be accomplished in a day, we decided on the order of priority, which was to get areas done where carpet was going to be installed. Brian got right to work. There was a lot of masking that needed to be done on the patio door, the windows, door hinges, window hardware and the bathroom. He painted the base in the large common area (cement floor where carpet would be installed later and in the bathroom. He also primed the windows, the pine French door and the patio door (which really required a lot of masking...lots of nooks/crannies.
Brian worked the full eight hours, was very pleasant and conscientious, asking if it was okay to play a radio, etc. At the end of the day, he had me look at the job, told me what he got done and what needed to still be done and said to let him know if I needed him back to finish up if I ended up not having time to finish the remainder. He didn't paint the exterior part of the windows yet as they needed to be open to dry or they would get painted shut, so he explained what I needed to do for painting that area.
I have since painted the French door, patio door and windows that Brian primed and the French door alone took a long time for me to do :P. I am very glad I hired Brian as it would have taken me 'forever' to get all that work done by myself and I am pleased with his work. I recommend him and would hire him again for future work.

"Andres and the entire Hernandez painting team did a fabulous job on our project. We had them paint the exterior of our home to a dramatically different color, and also paint/stain interior trim and baseboards. They are meticulous and very detail oriented. They prep each area thoroughly to ensure things are done extremely well and will not require additional work. For enameling some closet and bedroom doors and baseboards, they built an enclosed tent in our garage to spray things beautifully while protecting the area. For the very few small examples where touch up and refinements were needed, Andres and the team welcome and encourage feedback to ensure you are completely satisfied. They are efficient and do a terrific job. Andres (the owner) was at our job site each and every day of the project. This type of owner/operator model is what I truly love in working with a home service provider. Owners care and ensure a terrific job is done. Andres certainly fits that description and more."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can waterproof any wood that has not already been treated. A good way to test this is to splash some water on it. If the water starts to bead up, the wood is treated and most likely doesn’t need another coating.

Staining a deck is typically less expensive upfront than painting. The cost to stain a deck professionally averages around $850, with most homeowners paying between $550 and $1,250, depending on the deck's size. A DIY staining project can cost less than $100. The cost to paint a deck ranges from $500 to $2,000. While the initial cost of staining is lower, it's important to consider long-term expenses. Paint can last up to 10 years, whereas stain needs to be reapplied every few years, which could lead to higher costs over time.

There are deck restoration products and oil-based wood stains that can help bring back some of the color and shine to your faded Trex decking. However, if your boards are suffering from serious fading due to UV rays or chemical cleaning products, don’t expect miracles. Also, these products are only suitable for use on the older Trex boards, not the capped, second-generation Trex products.

Ideally, it's best to stain your dock once per year. Applying stain doesn't just keep it looking nice and new; it also helps extend the dock’s lifespan. Since you want to ensure water levels are at their lowest, it's best to have this project done by a professional dock repair service in the cooler autumn or early winter months.

Various kinds of substances and deck preservatives act as protective coatings for wood to prevent rot, which is caused by water getting into the wood and creating cracks and splits. Stains, paints, and sealants are the three best options to protect your wood, but there are also oils, varnishes, and waxes available. You’ll need to reapply sealant at least once per year, and you should inspect your wood deck regularly to look for signs of damage or general wear and tear.
