"We have used Shelton many times for both interior and exterior painting. They have even Stained our deck and the trim around our windows after having them replaced. We are never disappointed. This last time they painted the kitchen, Dinning room, Living room and hallway. There was some patch work that needed to be done from some holes etc....Area is open and we did two different colors. They finished in one day. It is beautiful. They prep and protect the bigger items that couldn't be moved out of the rooms. Cleaned up after themselves. They even vacuumed behind the TV stand that normally doesn't get moved. The workers are great. Highly recommend."
"Fantastic service from start to finish. the crew did a great job prepping and painting our home. Would highly recommend using Eclipse painting if you have any painting or staining needs."

"Jamie did a great job! I had a large deck and porch that is due for staining. Jamie responded very quickly after I quoted the job through Angieslist and came for a bid in a week. He answered my questions politely and professionally. His bid price was also very reasonable. I wanted it done as soon as possible but he explained to me that it's better to wait till weather's warm enough. And he'd already got plenty other jobs. So we scheduled for July. Then one month ahead of the schedule, he contact me if I wanted it done earlier. Of course I did. So he came and did a great job. He power-washed carefully and thoroughly. He even sanded quite some places though it was not included in the contract. For the staining, he carefully covered all underneath area and stayed away from the siding. He stained all railing and spindles very carefully and then the floor. I really appreciate his dedicated work and would definitely recommend him to my friends and hire him again for any other painting job."
"The front of the house is complex with several peaks, and a redwood chimney. The crew arrived promptly, skillfully applied the stain that I requested, and even went up the the chimney, and reapplied to a section they weren't satisfied with. An excellent result by a professional crew. "
"Andres and the entire Hernandez painting team did a fabulous job on our project. We had them paint the exterior of our home to a dramatically different color, and also paint/stain interior trim and baseboards. They are meticulous and very detail oriented. They prep each area thoroughly to ensure things are done extremely well and will not require additional work. For enameling some closet and bedroom doors and baseboards, they built an enclosed tent in our garage to spray things beautifully while protecting the area. For the very few small examples where touch up and refinements were needed, Andres and the team welcome and encourage feedback to ensure you are completely satisfied. They are efficient and do a terrific job. Andres (the owner) was at our job site each and every day of the project. This type of owner/operator model is what I truly love in working with a home service provider. Owners care and ensure a terrific job is done. Andres certainly fits that description and more."
Yes, it's a good idea to sand the wall with fine-grit sandpaper after spackling, especially if you plan on painting. You can do this by hand or using a sander, but the idea is to ensure the spackle is flush with the wall. Sanding will give your wall a smooth, uniform finish and help your paint and wallpaper stay put.
Applying a sealer or topcoat after staining wood is highly recommended, though not always strictly required. A sealer protects the wood from moisture, UV rays, and weather-related issues, which is especially important for outdoor surfaces like decks and fences. It also enhances the stain's durability, prevents fading over time, and gives the wood a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. For some indoor applications, a sealer may not be necessary, depending on the type of stain used and the level of protection needed. It's always best to check the stain manufacturer's recommendations and consider the wood's intended use and exposure when deciding whether to apply a sealer.
Routine cleaning, sealing/staining, and inspection prolong deck life and appearance.
To make sure the paint won’t bubble as you apply it, make sure to paint on a day that’s cooler than 85 degrees Fahrenheit. When the temperature is too high, the paint won’t dry evenly, which can result in bubbles forming on the surface. Another way to prevent paint from bubbling is to clean the walls, apply primer, and let everything dry completely before you begin.
The general consensus is that two coats of stain are required and since the cedar is siding, a third coat of sealant is always a good idea. This helps protect the wood and stain, so you won’t need to resand and restain for at least a decade. Each stain after the first will darken the wood, so be aware of that when choosing a colored stain.
