A tungsten carbide-tipped blade, sometimes called a solid-surface planer carbide-tipped blade, is the blade for cutting this type of surface. These blades are hard enough to cut through the surface and leave a workable edge. However, the rough cut edge the blades leave behind can lead to microfractures that eventually compromise the countertop. Sanding and smoothing the edge prevents these microfractures. 

How often you need to reseal marble countertops depends on the quality and color of the stone, the traffic on the surface, and the type of sealant. Sealing at least once a year is the general rule of thumb. However, if your large family loves to cook or the countertops are in a busy family bathroom, you might have to reseal them every six months (or more). The surfaces of your rarely used guest bathroom might not need resealing for a few years.

If you need to make curved cuts on your laminate countertop, get out the jigsaw. A jigsaw with a fine blade will allow you to follow curved traced lines. It is important to cut slowly and to let the jigsaw do most of the work with you acting as a guide. 

Concrete and granite are both extremely durable materials. One isn’t necessarily better than the other. It depends on what you’re looking for. That said, granite is less costly and requires less maintenance. Furthermore, concrete is more prone to staining and cracking, though you can patch the cracks using a concrete patching compound.

Solid surface countertops are fairly resilient. You can use soapy water or ammonia-based cleaners. You can also occasionally use diluted bleach (around 5 tablespoons per gallon of water) for sanitization. Avoid window cleaners because they leave a waxy film that can dull the countertop’s surface. Solid surface material is nonporous, so there’s no need for sealing.
