"My neighbors (3 homes) and I contracted Undercut to trim 5 mature trees, and remove 4 mature trees. I was particularly impressed with their care and skill in dismantling and removing a very large maple that stood between 2 of our houses. They really enjoyed their work and each other which made it nice to have them working on our properties. Conscientious, careful, skilled, and punctual, they also did a great job cleaning up. Highly recommend them."

Small jobs welcome

"Brett was a very pleasant man to work with. He listened to my suggestions and offered his professional opinion on other branches to take down. He was very careful in the trimming he did so as not to damage any property. His rates were very good. My property looks so much nicer now with all the dead branches he cut down for me. I would definitely recommend his services to others. Thanks Brettð ð"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Dutch elm disease can’t harm humans. In fact, according to Cal Fire, bark beetles aren’t even typically dangerous to trees unless that tree is already weakened. The problem comes when Dutch elm disease kills a tree. That tree is more at risk of falling and catching fire, which can pose a serious threat.

In the case that a tree is growing directly on your property line, the cost of maintaining the tree is shared and is the property of both owners in common. In this case, all decisions regarding the maintenance of the tree must be made jointly, and both parties must agree on a course of action. You will need to agree with your neighbor about the cutting of any roots before you carry it out, and your neighbor must also consult with you before doing any trimming. Coming to an agreement with your neighbor about any shared trees ahead of necessary trimming and maintenance will make this process much simpler.

Most experts recommend removing a tree that has sustained more than 25% loss in the limbs, trunk, or circumference of the bark. Doing an initial trimming of damaged and dangling branches, but then waiting a few days of monitoring to decide how much more you might need to cut can help you better assess the total damage to the tree. However, consulting a tree maintenance pro to make this determination the best course of action before removing a tree.

Salt, herbicide, light deprivation, boiling water, and burning can all help dissolve a tree stump. You can also bury the tree stump in soil or mulch to help it rot naturally. Killing a tree stump prevents future regrowth, but you may also remove it by digging it out or grinding it.

We recommend removing the stump, and grinding is a popular way to do it. You can also dig out small stumps or stumps that have fully decayed instead of grinding them. However, don’t try using acids or fire for killing a tree stump, which is a fire hazard and illegal in many areas.

Leaving the stump alone invites eventual problems, including attracting termites, mold, and fungi.
