"Cravin Brothers gave us an initial estimate on new leaf guard gutters for our house and garage. The initial estimate missed one area, but they were good about revising the estimate. The official written estimates were a little on the later side (promised Friday or Monday, received on Wednesday), but the estimate came in dramatically lower than the other two estimates we received for the same product. They were very knowledgeable about the key issues we raised, and we happy to help us choose the right product. They didn't push for higher-end materials (even though that's what we went with), and gave us estimates for both options (including the Angie's List discount). It took a few tries calling to set up a good time for installation, but they arrived on the agreed-on date on time. Installation was quick and efficient, very professional, no debris left to clean up or trampled flowers. The gutters have survived the rain-test, and look great. We are very happy with our experience with Cravin Brothers."

"Max was very knowledgeable and took time to explain my gutter problems including sagging, drainage, and failure due to age. Excellent communication with schedule updates due to Minnesota weather. My gutters and guards were installed all in one day! One of their next projects is replacing gutters at my mom's house. Thanks Royal-Gutters."

"Everything went great. Dave was on time, knew what he was doing, cleaned up any mess and he worked fast enough to justify the cost. Telephone conversations and setting things up with Jerry went well too."

Gutter Cleaning questions, answered by experts

There are several ways to tell if your gutter downspout drain is backed up. The most obvious sign is when you see water flowing over your gutter edges. This can occur during everything from light rain to a rainstorm. Additional signs can include peeling paint around your downspout, visible dirt around your downspout, and moisture on the side of the house. If you're having ongoing problems with clogs caused by a poorly designed or worn-out gutter system, consider getting a quote for gutter replacement cost.

Failing to clean your gutters can lead to serious and costly damage. When leaves and other debris cause blockages, water cannot drain properly and will overflow. This can lead to water pooling around your home’s foundation, causing basement flooding and structural damage. The overflow can also damage your roof, siding, and fascia boards, with the constant moisture promoting mold, mildew, and rot. The weight of wet debris can cause gutters to sag or break, while stagnant water creates a breeding ground for pests like mosquitoes and rodents. Additionally, runoff can damage landscaping or freeze on driveways and patios, causing cracks. To prevent these issues, it is recommended to clean your gutters at least once or twice a year.

Hiring a local gutter cleaner costs an average of $119 to $228. For many homeowners, it’s worth bringing in a pro to make sure there’s a regular cleaning schedule and that the job is done thoroughly. A pro can also inspect your gutters and roofline and flag any issues before you start experiencing costly mold, rot, or water damage.

Gutter cleaning costs about $170 on average, ranging from about $75 to $400. Cost factors include the type, length, and height of your gutters. A multiple-story home with gutters high off the ground and accessible only by ladder or working on a steep roof will cost more than a single-story house with a relatively flat roof.

Using less toilet paper is the easiest way to prevent future clogs. Also, avoid flushing sanitary products, thick paper towels, or hair down the toilet. If you’ve been using a brick in the tank to reduce the water used to flush the toilet, take it out immediately. Bricks will eventually fall apart and clog your toilet drain. Keeping your toilet lid closed also helps avoid future clogs.
