"Great experience and I'm thrilled with the final product. ! I communicated via email with Gina first to get some initial information and to learn about the process/timeline. Gina was very responsive to every communication. I dropped the chairs off and picked them up myself to save a little money; the team at the shop unloaded and loaded the chairs for me once I arrived. Gina provided a thorough estimate and clearly explained what she thought needed to be done - new foam; new board on at least one broken chair base; glue some parts that were wobbly. I also carefully reviewed the website for Twin Cities Upholstery before dropping off my chairs. They have lots of fabrics to choose from in the shop and even more online via the fabric companies they use; and some fabric company partners will send free samples of fabric. This was REALLY helpful for me and I actually selected one of the fabrics from the samples I ordered. I recommend either reviewing fabric samples online or spending time in the shop looking at fabric before dropping off item to be upholstered. There is just so much to choose from. The chairs were completed well within the timeframe promised. I would use this company again in the future!"

"I highly recommend Niola Upholstery services. Manual recovered my Baker couch and two Hickory Chair swivel chairs, and they looked just like the original job. He also recovered 4 bar stools, a bench and a side chair. I could not be happier! He is a professional through and through!"

"Cannot say enough good things about how my project turned out. Lonnie is a true craftsman! He made my 20 year old chairs and ottoman look brand new. He has an extensive selection of fabrics and ordered numerous samples for me to choose from. This is not a speedy process but if you have upholstered furniture you want to keep, it's totally worth it."

"The veneer was badly damaged so it was difficult to repair.  I was disappointed that it did not turn out better but they probably did the best they could due to the damage. The stain color was a little darker than the rest of finish.

"We've used them once. They never really got the pet stains out. I was able to with a, I eventually going to get product off the shelf. I was able to get the pet stains out myself after they haven't been here. I was disappointed they could not get the pet stains out. They should get all the stains out. They were punctual."

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

If your usually super soft couch feels crusty and rough after cleaning, it could be that you haven’t removed the cleaning product properly, you used too much, or you applied the wrong type. Always check the couch tags to select the right cleaning product, read application instructions carefully, and test on an inconspicuous corner. For fabrics such as microfiber, you can soften and fluff crusty fibers using a soft-bristled brush.

The best way to test the quality of a leather couch is to put your hands on it. If the upholstery is soft and warm, that’s a good indication that the quality is higher. It should also smell like traditional leather. If it smells like chemicals, you’re probably dealing with low-grade leather.

Ongoing maintenance of your leather furniture is the only way to prevent it from peeling and cracking. Real leather will peel and crack as it dries out. Leather conditioners are a great way to protect your leather furniture from drying out, and you’ll need to apply it about twice each year. It’s also a good idea to keep abrasive materials away from your leather to prevent cracking and peeling, including belt buckles, shoes, and multi-surface cleaners, especially those that contain alcohol.

Reupholstering is often worthwhile for high-quality, antique, or sentimental couches, especially if the frame is sturdy. It can cost less than buying a comparable new piece and allows for customization, but may not be cost-effective for low-end furniture.

Craftsmanship begins with detailed design followed by skilled artisans shaping high-quality materials into the desired furniture, ensuring durability and uniqueness.
