"I was very confident that the people doing the work were clean and honest professionals. We are very happy with the new windows and we can now enjoy the outside view too! They also replaced an old window with a beautiful new patio door too! We would definitely recommend this company."

"My previous patio door was on its last life from when the house was built in 2005. I had towels in it to prevent the wind coming in. The floor would have snow occasionally because of the gaps in the door. Unfortunately, the builders put in a very cheap door. When I contacted ACE I knew I wanted quality for the door. I wanted it to last until I move out and sell the house. I got exactly that! The new door is beyond my expectations! The wood work around it, the quality, the customer service! Everything went very smoothly! I will be referring them to everyone I know for their quality work! Thank you!"

"Don't need to know anything. The workmen will answer any questions eagerly. My project was not major (level my personal front sidewalk from the City's to my door) and only took 1 hour. These guys said they can work several projects a day, but some things like lifting and doing substantial things like driveways will take most of the day."

"Josh came out quickly to give us an estimate. My fiancé and I live out of state and happened to be in town for one day the following weekend. Josh went out of his way to leave a family event so that he could meet us at the house to get on the roof with my fiancé, so Josh could show him how he wanted to fix it. Josh and his team did an excellent job and even sent us before and after pictures. Since he knew we lived out of state, he even went out of his way to send pictures of the hail storm that happened shortly before our house closed, so we knew to have the house checked for damage. Josh was professional, courteous, and thorough."

"Luke called me back and came by my house to look into the project and give me an estimate the day that I called him. He was friendly, professional, and prompt. He worked around my schedule, which I greatly appreciated. My project involved adjusting doors so they would fit properly within their frames."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Awning windows can have screens, but it depends on your manufacturer. If your awning window does have a screen, it will be on the interior side so it doesn’t get in the way when you crank the window open. Having the screen on the inner part of the window also makes it easier to clean from inside your home.

There are different types of screen materials available when purchasing a screen door, but the two main options are fiberglass and aluminum. Fiberglass is lightweight and affordable, but can stretch out, so it needs to be replaced more often. Aluminum has a higher upfront cost, but is more sturdy. Aluminum can be more difficult to install, even if you know how to replace screen door mesh.

Rescreening your porch can take a few hours to a whole day, depending on the size of the enclosure and the amount of screen that needs replacing. If you decide to have a professional handle the rescreening, be sure to get a timeline and a cost estimate so you know how long you’ll be without the screened-in space.

If your door has interchangeable inserts, you’ll likely want to swap the glass out for a screen during the summer months. The process to do so will vary by door, but you’ll follow these general steps: First, use a flathead screwdriver to pop out the retainer strips—the plastic strips running down both long (and sometimes all four) sides of the door. Then gently pull them out by hand. Carefully remove the glass insert from the door and replace it with the screen. Finally, push the plastic retainer strips back into place, working from top to bottom.

The cost of a window repair varies significantly depending on which part is damaged. Here is a breakdown of common repairs and their estimated costs:

  • Broken seal or fogginess between panes: $70–$245

  • Cracked pane: $40–$100

  • Broken glass: $200–$2,000

  • Sash, seal, or track repair: $200–$600

  • Latch or hardware issues: $75–$200

  • Broken window frame: $175–$1,000

  • Window screen replacement: $140–$480
