A few years ago I decided to take my 20yrs of residential construction trade knowledge and create a company that does it all. I have done everything on the outside of a home (landscaping/hardscaping, additions, sheds, spring/fall cleanups, trimming and removing trees, roofing, soffit facia siding, patios, pavers and poured cement, painting, everything!) To the inside(framing, finishing carpentry, repair anything, restoration work, flood damage to remodels, ANYTHING DRYWALL, painting, hanging light fixtures/ceiling fans, remodeling kitchen &/or bathroom, tile, wood flooring, vinyl wood planks, carpet, epoxy floors, anything! I even hand carve duplicates to match an existing piece, painted murals, I restore anything from furniture to Billiard tables. I have an extensive knowledge base and can do anything your able to think up. I'm up for the challenge no matter what it is....call me RyGuys Restoration 612-986-4176...now you have a Guy! LoL

"After purchasing an Angie's List Deal, I received the measuring kit in the mail promptly. The template and instructions provided to draw my split table top and each of the leaves were easy to use and understand. I mailed the completed materials and received the table pads very quickly. The table splits in the middle to allow insertion of up to 3 additional leaves. The table also has 2 drop leaves. That's 7 pads. All fit perfectly. I have used them on the table for family parties (not every day) and they're durable and built to last. I keep them in the box they arrived in to protect them when not in use. These are a worthwhile investment."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

There are a variety of second-story deck privacy ideas depending on your budget and aesthetic. For starters, you might consider fencing or tall privacy railing that masks a good portion of the open deck. A pergola or an awning can provide additional cover and shade. Outdoor curtains are an easy way to add or remove privacy at your convenience, plus they’re a wallet-friendly way to decorate your deck.

Installing a tongue-and-groove wall requires similar techniques to those associated with installing shiplap. However, because of the precision necessary to make each board fit perfectly and the increased material prices, the cost is higher than that of shiplap installations. Expect to spend between $2 and $6 more per square foot for tongue-and-groove walls versus shiplap ones.

It’s best to use two screws to secure deck boards into every joist. Securing the boards to every joist makes the deck more structurally sound, while using two screws on the outer sides of the boards can help prevent warping and cupping.

Homeowners can increase the usefulness of their garage space in other ways, and one option is to extend the length of the garage by making it deeper. The process is similar to traditional garage extensions, but the end product is a garage with a different layout rather than additional parking spaces.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.
