"Marshall Handyman Services performed all of this work, and everything was very easy for us. Each time we called, Dave Marshall came out promptly to look over what was needed. Within a few days he gave us a complete estimate of the work to be done and the charge. I thought his prices were appropriate; generally no more or no less than I might expect. He also let us know the time frame in which we could expect the work to be completed. He was flexible and responsive to our requests. He did what we asked when it made sense, but also let us know when he thought there was a better approach. Marshall completed the work and in all cases were were happy with the quality and appearance. Also, in the case of these three visits, the amount billed was never more than the estimate, and a couple of times somewhat less. The $100 price cited was for the chimney cap and included the cap and installation.
"Plumer was profession, friendly, on time, and did a great job. We have an unusual sink that was incorrectly installed years before we purchased the house, and he modified the new faucet so that it would work with the incorrectly cut granite countertop. A true professional"
"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."
The best option is to alter the plumbing. Moving and centering the drain pipe behind the sink usually does the trick and creates the sleek, minimalist look that pedestal sinks offer. If you don’t want to do any plumbing work, there are a few decorating hacks:
Painting the pipes
Placing shelves, plants, or baskets in front of the pipes
Adding a sink skirt
Yes, drain stoppers do come out. In some cases, you can twist them counterclockwise to remove them. You can lift some drain stoppers halfway to the raised position and unscrew them. For others, you will need to lift the drain stopper to the raised position and unscrew the stopper from the stem underneath the top of the stopper.
Hiring an emergency plumber is expensive because of the urgency and inconvenience, but there are a few things you can do to help keep costs down:
Minimize water damage by shutting off your water main
Clean up pooling water immediately to reduce damage and mold growth
Avoid using fixtures if you have a clog or septic system backup
Verify that your plumber is licensed before hiring
Call a few plumbers for estimates if you can afford a short delay in getting service
Pop-up drains come in various sizes, including 1.25", 1.5" and 1.625". Choose a drain the same size or smaller than the hole in your sink.
Yes, a toilet, sink, and shower can share the same vent. This is a common plumbing practice that can simplify installation and save space. When sharing a vent, it's important that the toilet is located downstream from all other fixtures. You will also need to ensure the vent pipe is large enough to handle the demands of all connected fixtures without compromising its effectiveness. Because requirements can vary, you should always check your local building and plumbing codes. Consulting a qualified plumber is recommended to ensure the vent is properly sized, installed, and adheres to all local regulations.
