"Shelton Painting did a great job! The estimate was accurate, the work was done quickly, the workers were prompt and the area in question was kept clean. The end result smells and looks like a new basement!"

"Revel power-washed our entire house, painted all the exterior trim and garage doors, and stained our deck, all in under two days. All surfaces were scraped and prepped before painting. They even matched the color of our siding when buying paint for the garage doors. Crew members were very friendly and professional. Highly recommended!"

"David did a lot of painting at our home - interior and exterior. I would recommend him absolutely. Excellent customer service, a great price, overall 5 star experience. I didn't know much about what to expect with this, but he really took good care of us."

Customers say: True professional

"The workmen did not speak English and were not proceeding the task of refinishing my deck as was agreed on with the salesperson. After some difficulty reaching management, management indicated they would like the workmen to complete the work in the manor that the workmen wanted to do it. I agreed and the ultimate results were very satisfactory. It was just frustrating because management/salesman led me to believe the job would be executed one way but the workmen wanted to do the job "the way they always do it". The workmen did a very nice job so I am happy with the outcome."

Small jobs welcome

"Allen gave me an in person quote for painting in my hallway and a guest room. When he was here he helped me go through all the paint left by the owners to determine if we could use it to save $. He arrived early and completed the work extremely well and very neatly. He went through everything to make sure I was happy. I have already hired him for another job."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Satin paint is generally considered a better choice for woodwork—including trim, baseboards, cabinets, and doors—than flatter finishes like eggshell or matte. Its soft sheen enhances architectural details and stands up well to frequent cleaning and daily wear. Compared to eggshell and matte finishes, satin is more durable for high-touch areas because it is less porous and doesn't absorb dirt as easily. Matte finishes, in particular, are prone to scuffs and are harder to clean, making them less practical for surfaces like doors and cabinets.

A wood deck requires annual cleaning and regular inspections for loose or broken boards, nails, and screws. It should be refinished by applying a stain or sealer every two to three years to protect the wood from water damage, rot, mildew, and sun fading. The exact frequency can depend on the climate and the deck's exposure to sun and moisture. If your deck is painted, it will need repainting approximately every 10 years. Signs that your deck needs refinishing include faded, splintering, or warping boards.

By applying protective finishes and using durable materials that withstand weather and time.

Whitewashing isn’t permanent, but it can last for a long, long time. When you apply it correctly or have a seasoned pro whitewash your brick, whitewashing can last for 20 to 30 years or longer. Whitewash is very durable and typically requires little maintenance, making it a great project for most DIYers.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood, as this helps prevent the surface from cracking. However, it is crucial to wait for the wood to dry out completely from the chemical treatment process before applying a finish. If the wood is still wet, the paint will not adhere properly. The drying time can range from weeks to six months. To test if the wood is ready, drip some water onto a board. If the water is absorbed, the wood is dry enough for painting or staining. If the water beads up on the surface, it needs more time to dry. You can build with the wood while it's still wet, but you must wait for it to dry before painting.
