"Outstanding results. He made my Travel Trailer look brand new again. Everyone who saw it before couldn't believe same Trailer. I also had him do my deck, awning, and roof of camper (low pressure) to get all the pine needles & debri off I told him to reserve a day in April 2024 to come back because I sold that trailer and bought a bigger one next door to my sister's that I want to get the works done to... so I start next years season off on the right foot. The price was also a very good Value for all that he did. Thanks So Much Lorry Hood Jasper,Al"

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Always sand a deck before repainting so the wood is smooth and ready for paint. While you do not need to fully remove paint before repainting, sanding helps remove any areas with weather and sun damage. Sanding also helps remove chipped or flaking paint and opens the wood pores to improve paint adhesion.

When installing deck boards, screws are generally a better option than nails. Screws offer superior holding strength over time, keeping the boards securely in place. In contrast, nails are more likely to pop out, which can create a tripping hazard. While you can use either, we recommend using 3-inch galvanized deck screws. To minimize the risk of cracking the wood, it's a good practice to drill small pilot holes before driving the screws into the deck joists.

When building a deck, #2 grade lumber is a go-to for several reasons. It’s strong, budget-friendly, and works well for most framing and decking needs. But upgrading to #1 or Appearance Grade can give your deck that extra visual edge if you're after a cleaner, more polished look for high-visibility spots.

Expect to spend around $10,000 to $11,000 to replace a 20-by-20-foot deck. Using high-end materials like composite or exotic hardwoods can drive up the cost, as can custom features and design elements. You can also expect to pay more than average if your deck replacement requires a site evaluation or if you need the work done during the busy season.

It’s important to make sure the wood on a new deck is properly seasoned. Seasoning a deck is simple: Once you build it (or have a pro do so), just leave it alone so it can acclimate to the environment. If you don’t give the deck proper seasoning time before staining, the stain can lock in any lingering moisture and cause mold, rot, and other moisture issues down the road. Give the wood at least four to eight weeks to season before you stain.
