Small jobs welcome

"My driveway had at least 3 puddles every single time it rained no matter how little rain there was my driveway tried recreate great lakes. Rough to ready grading was happy to take a look at our problem and explain to us what was going on and how to fix it. It took a day for my driveway to go from a muddy mess, to a nice smooth path to drive on."

"" just sealed our driveway and filled all the cracks and the results are amazing. He was on time, explained the process, and really took care to get the cracks filled properly before sealing. "Stars and Stripes gives an estimate prior to service and schedules in a very timely manner. They work with your business schedule to make it convenient for customers so we donâ t have to close. The lot looks great the striping is very clean and nice looking. They are top notch and very professional and friendly to work with!!! We have hired them 3 times now and have never been disappointed with the quality of service and work. They even came out to touch up a corner that accidentally had a boat left in the lot after the boat was moved! Not all companies would do that!!! Thank you for your quality service!! "Superior experience from start to finish! Weather delayed them from starting the project, but they kept us fully informed on every step. Once they began they were very thorough about cleaning up after themselves. They gave a very reasonable price to do the job and were willing to work with us on payment options. I would HIGHLY recommend this contractor to anyone.....!!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

By grading and compacting the base soil, ensuring proper drainage and stability.

Professionals restore the surface to a fresh, attractive finish by applying a new, even sealant layer.

The decision to repair or replace your driveway depends on the extent of the damage. If your driveway has a few small cracks, a simple repair will do the trick. If you see larger cracks and potholes, it may be time to consider resurfacing or replacement. Resurfacing is a great option if more than 25% of the surface is damaged, but if the damage is extensive—deep cracks or significant sinking—it’s best to replace the driveway entirely. A new driveway, with proper care, can last decades while patching or resurfacing might only hold up for a few years before needing more attention.

Yes, it is possible to pave over an existing driveway, but whether it's the right choice depends on several factors. If the underlying structure of your current driveway is still strong, concrete or asphalt resurfacing can be a cost-effective way to prolong its life. However, if your driveway has significant issues like potholes, deep cracks, or other inconsistencies, it is best to remove the old driveway and start from scratch. Key factors to consider include the current driveway's condition, the compatibility of the new material, the added thickness and height, and the necessary surface preparation.
