"This is the 2nd house that I've had Matt and his team install fencing to enclose my backyard. He made it all even easy and worry free. The installation transpired without any issues. It took 2 days to install. When they were done, it was like the fence was always there. No debris, it was all cleaned up and ready to enjoy."

Customers say: Quick response

"Very happy with selecting Meader Enterprises to install my fence. Scott communicated when the job would start and the completion date. The other worker he had working with him was very meticulous in making sure the fence was straight. I would recommend Meader Enterprises for another job."

"Great experience from start to finish. Tim did a good job with the estimate, explaining what he would do, the materials he would use, and why. MHI was not the low bid, but Tim's professionalism with the estimate made me confident that MHI would do the job correctly. We experienced a massive fishfly invasion the day Tim's team came to do the painting. Tim decided to take the removable pieces back to the shop to do the work. (This meant adding a round trip from St Clair Shores to Troy to the job). They used blowers and built a plastic tent around the one load bearing post that could not be removed to keep it fishfly free during the process. The repainted shutters and porch trim look great!"

"We recently bought a home that had foreclosed. The previous owners had stopped taking care of the house for a long time. It has a large paver walk way and stairs to the front door as well as a walk way to the back yard. The pavers were sinking in areas, weeds were growing between them and some were loose.
Nosh made them look like they were brand new. The improvement is truly amazing! He fit us into his schedule immediately. Nosh doesn't skimp on materials and uses the highest quality product. He is prompt, thoughtful and generous. Nosh is very fair with his price and stands behind his work.

"Gary was extremely helpful and efficient with his remodel project at our house.  We wanted a wall opened up to install barn doors between two rooms and he was very quick with responding to our messages and visiting for a quote.  Once we had discussed the project details he gave us a very reasonable quote on the spot.  After agreeing to the quote he was out and began work within days, staying into the evening to complete his work.  Several questions did arise as to the work he was completing (ie...hole in the subfloor) and he quickly contacted us to let us make a decision about the direction it was going.  The work was complete thoroughly and well-within the agreed upon time schedule.  The only minor issue that we had with the project was that the work space was not cleaned up (debris, materials, and dust left behind) and some of the demolition materials were left in the house.

Overall we were very pleased with the quality, cost, and efficiency of the work.  We plan to work with Gary again in the future and would recommend him to anyone looking for in-home remodel projects that they are considering.

"Charlie did a wide variety of projects across many disciplines and each task was executed perfectly. He installed a custom doggie door in a french door (wood and glass work), adjusted several interior doors, exterior fence work, electrical work, drywall repair, installed a dedicated drain line for a reverse osmosis water system and more. He is quite courteous and professional with a bottom line goal of exceeding expectations. A rare find. "

" The guys showed up on time, were very friendly and professional. They went right to work and replaced 3 4x4 fence posts. I would definitely recommend Frederick Collins Construction.

Fencing questions, answered by experts

You can use soil and gravel instead of concrete when setting fence posts. However, concrete is more durable and longer lasting, so it's worth considering if you want your fence to withstand the test of time. You should especially consider concrete if you live in a region that experiences severe weather, which can damage your fence.

A wrought iron fence is generally considered a worthwhile investment, provided the cost fits your budget and its characteristics meet your needs. While it is an expensive material, its exceptional durability and longevity mean you can save money over time by not having to replace it.

Key benefits include:

  • Durability and Security: Wrought iron is strong and provides excellent security for your home.

  • Longevity: With proper maintenance, it can last a lifetime or longer.

  • Aesthetics: It offers a classy, timeless, and elegant look that can boost your home's curb appeal and property value, especially when complementing brick or stone architecture.

However, it's important to note that wrought iron fencing does not offer much privacy. If professionally installed and maintained, it is a sound long-term investment.

When it comes to materials, wire fences are the cheapest option. The average cost for a 150-foot wire fence is $1,350. The next cheapest material is chain-link, followed by wood.

As far as the style of fence, smaller, less private fences are cheaper than large, elaborate fences that block your whole yard. That’s why split-rail fences are the cheapest option for wooden fences. They cost roughly $10 to $30 per linear foot.

If the fence is on one neighbor’s property, that person is responsible for repairs, regardless of who benefits from the fence more. The other neighbor must keep trees and other obstacles from crossing the property line and affecting the fence. If the fence is directly on the property line, though, who owns a shared fence? Many states have laws that address this issue. Typically, the two property owners would share responsibilities and costs for fence maintenance and repair. You may need a property line survey to precisely determine ownership and responsibility.

If you’re trying to keep your dog from running away, an electric fence isn’t the only fence type for your yard worth considering. The cost of dog fences can range from $1,500 to $8,000, with popular materials including wood, vinyl, or aluminum to keep your pet safe and sound.

If you’re trying to keep livestock in their pasture, other fencing options include woven wire, high-tensile wire, and synthetic fencing. These options give your animals boundaries without the use of electricity.
