"I just bought a house and wanted to refinished the floors before moving in. The Dietrich Brothers were the only company able to come out before I needed to move in and they did the work for a lot less. They were great about communicating through the whole process. And as an added bonus, someone always answered the phone or text when I needed to get a hold of them. It’s always nice to work with a business you can easily reach. I was so excited to move in, I never took a picture after they added the stain, but the before and after sanding picture says it all! I was worried this room was a lost cause and they saved it!"

"Workers were here 'sort of' on time. Job took a day or two longer than expected. New shower looks great. Shower floor is an issue. The floor is not solid, and takes some getting used to. Overall, we are happy with the new shower, but the floor needs to be addressed along with a chip in the floor ceramic tile, caused by workers."

Floor Sanding questions, answered by experts

Soil testers and licensed excavators are often the professionals you hire if you need a perc test. In some cases, structural engineers will also be able to conduct the test for you. In many municipalities, you’ll need your professional on-site to dig and fill the holes with water, as well as a representative from your local building department or health department. That representative is the individual who will determine whether your test passes or fails.

Detailed mapping of elevation changes and natural features on the property.

The small lines on the tape measure either indicate inches, fractions of an inch, or centimeters and millimeters. On the imperial unit side (aka the inches side), the longest lines indicate inches, followed by the next shortest lines that indicate a half-inch, and then the quarter, eighth, and sixteenth-inch. On the metric side, the lines break down meters, centimeters, and millimeters.

Permit requirements to clear land vary by municipality, so whether or not you need permits depends on where you live and what you’re removing from the land. Some building departments will require permits for any underground work or excavation, meaning grinding down tree stumps on your property would require permits. Others mandate individual permits for each tree you remove. You can contact your local building department or a land-clearing specialist near you to see if permits are necessary for your job.

Land surveys don’t technically expire. They do serve as a point of reference and a snapshot of your property, though, so as soon as you make changes to your property (and even if your neighbor makes certain changes to theirs), your existing land survey becomes inaccurate, and a new one must be done. Even if you don’t make any changes to your property, many states only guarantee the accuracy of a land survey for five to ten years.
