"Diego, the Woodright representative who came to our home in response to my request for assistance with a sticking patio sliding door was absolutely wonderful. He was able to identify the problem and make some adjustments to the door to resolve the problem and moreover did not charge me because it was a quick fix. Diego was very knowledgeable and friendly and I could not be more pleased with the service he provided. I will definitely call on this company again when I am in need of assistance with a project."

"The story starts with me sending an e-mail request for an estimate to be set up.   I was floored when I received a response within 10 minutes from Kurt.   He answered my specific question regarding their service area in that initial e-mail and informed me that someone would be calling to set up an appointment.    The next afternoon I was contacted to set-up the appointment with Wayne.
Wayne was very prompted, answered all my questions, drew a picture of the crawl space since I hadn't been down there (only my husband had), he waited for my husband to get home from work and discussed in detail the plan for fixing the water problem.    Wayne was very professional and took his time to make sure we understood the plan and wrote up the estimate and contract right then.   We took a day to think it over and get financing buttoned down.    The next day I sent the contract and down-payment to Wayne.    Before the contract or down payment even got to them Kurt was on the phone scheduling the work to be done.
Monday morning the work crew showed up.  They were all very nice gentlemen, responsive to questions, and got right to work.    I felt bad because they had to crawl down a 2 x 2 foot hatch to get into the crawl space with jack hammers, etc.   They installed paper over the floor and put up a plastic tunnel leading from the crawl space hatch to the outside door.   Absolutely, no cement dust got into my home nor did I have any mess to clean up when they were done with the work.    The team lead made sure that we knew what was going on before they left for the evening and what needed to be done the next day to finish the project.
The next day, they showed up promptly and got to work.   They finished around 2:00 PM and I did a walk-through of the crawl space area with the team leader.   Yes, I finally went down the crawl space hatch since my husband wasn't home from work yet.   He also made sure to tell me that if we have any water in the crawl space or questions to call and someone will be out to service the crawl space.
The work crew worked well together and worked very hard.    They carried a lot of gravel down the crawl space hatch and a lot of cement up the hatch.
Overall, the experience was great and I would recommend this company to anyone that asks.

Doors questions, answered by experts

Plenty of building codes dictate what you must install in your home, but door sweeps are optional. However, they're a low-cost addition with many advantages. So, installing a sweep on all your exterior doors is in your best interest. You'll save money in the long run and stay more comfortable year-round.

Screen doors (sometimes called barrier doors) and security doors serve different primary functions. A screen door's main purpose is to allow airflow and keep pests out, featuring a lightweight frame and a mesh screen. A security door, however, is a heavy-duty structure designed to prevent unauthorized entry. Security doors are installed with permanent screws into the home's walls and are often equipped with deadbolts or other heavy-duty locking mechanisms for enhanced protection against intruders.

Generally, hinged French patio doors are considered more secure than sliding glass doors. French doors typically feature a more robust, solid frame that can support multi-point locking systems and deadbolts, securing the door at several points and making them harder to break into. In contrast, sliding doors often rely on a single lock and operate on tracks, which can be a security vulnerability. While you can add security bars and other features to enhance a sliding door's security, a well-made French door is often more secure on its own. Ultimately, the overall security of any patio door depends on the quality of its materials, the locking hardware, and proper installation.

If you have a sticky door in the summer, the culprit is likely humidity. Humidity can cause wooden doors to swell due to the high moisture levels in the air. A quick fix is to open doors throughout your home to improve air circulation and lower the moisture in your air. A longer-term solution is to use dehumidifiers and ceiling fans.

Start by checking the top or side edge of the door. Look for a certification label or metal tag stamped with details like the fire rating and information on the manufacturer. Even if it’s painted over, the tag should still be visible. Next, look along the edges for slim intumescent strips. They’re designed to swell up and seal gaps when exposed to heat. Finally, check if the door closes itself. Most fire doors have a self-closing mechanism, like an overhead closer or spring hinges. If none of these are obvious, contact a fire safety professional to help verify your door.
