It’s highly recommended to use studs for a TV mount. The last thing you want is to be watching your favorite show when the TV falls off the wall. Studs are much stronger than drywall and quite a bit stronger than drywall anchors but, if you can’t find the studs or there simply aren’t any where you need them, you can use drywall anchors. Masonry drills have the power and design to drill into denser surfaces like brick. Use either plastic anchors or concrete screws to mount your TV. 

Coax cable connects to your television, modem, or cable box. Look for a female coax connection on these devices. Your coax cable will connect to any of these. The other end of the wire runs to the service connection coming into the house.

Do not install a TV above an active fireplace or wood-burning stove because of excess heat and temperature fluctuations. Another place that can be tricky for electronics is the bathroom, where moisture can be a factor. If you choose to mount a TV in these areas, you should find a weather-resistant appliance.

Determining if mounting a TV on the wall or mounting it on a stand is better boils down to personal preference. TV mounts are an excellent choice for homes that have limited space, unruly dogs, or young children. They also allow you to customize the height and viewing angle more easily. At the same time, mounting a TV on an entertainment center stand offers additional storage space, a place to hide the wires, and fewer holes in the wall. Renters may also have limitations on drilling holes into the wall above certain diameters.
